Many users haven’t been able to install the Wireless Display Media Viewer after upgrading to the Windows 10 Creators Update. More specifically, the app won’t completely install and when users try to launch, only a blank window opens.
What’s worse it that there is no uninstall option available. Actually, the Wireless Display Media Viewer is installed under the name “Miracast view” as an app package, but Microsoft denied users access to remove it.
Here’s how one user describes this issue:
Fortunately, there are a few solutions to fix this problem. So, if you are experiencing various Wireless Display Media Viewer issues after upgrading to the Creators Update, follow the troubleshooting steps listed below. How to fix Wireless Display Media Viewer bugs
Solution 1 — Update your drivers
After installing the Windows 10 Creators Update, don’t forget to update your drivers. If Windows doesn’t find a new driver, try looking for one on your device manufacturer’s website and follow their instructions.
Solution 2 — Refresh, reset, or restore your system
Refreshing your PC reinstalls Windows, keeping your personal files, settings, and apps intact. Resetting your PC reinstalls Windows but deletes all your files, settings, and apps except for the apps that came with your PC. Restoring your PC allows you to undo recent system changes.
Users confirm that performing a reset does the trick. However, we recommend you first perform a refresh or a restore. In this manner, you won’t delete your files and apps. If this doesn’t help, perform a system reset but bear in mind that this action will permanently delete a series of files and programs.
For a step-by-step guide on how to refresh, reset, or restore your system, check out Microsoft’s support page.
Solution 3 — Uninstall Wireless Display Media Viewer using Psexec and DB Browser for SQLite
Many Creators Update users confirm the following solution offered by Insider Alex Appleton does the trick. Here are the steps to follow:
1. Download Psexec and DB Browser for SQLite and install them
2. Launch Command Prompt and run psexec as system using this command: chúng tôi -i -s -d cmd.exe
3. Open the DB Browser for SQLite as system and launch the executable under command prompt using this command:
C:Program FilesDB Browser for SQLiteDB Browser for SQLite.exe
This is the location if you installed the app to its default path. If you installed it elsewhere, change the command accordingly.
4. Go to the “Open Database” button at the top and open the following database file:
6. Under the PackageFullName column of Windows.MiracastView_184.108.40.206_neutral_neutral_cw5n1h2txyewy, change the value under the IsInbox column from a 1 to a 0 and save the changes.

Microsoft’s Wireless Display Adapter is based on Wi-Fi certified Miraacast technology which allows you to stream content from any device to TV or Monitor. If you do not have a smart TV or Chromecast enabled device, then the display adapter can be a great choice. In this post, we will share how to use Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter. It will include setting up the adapter, connect your device with it, and prevent others from connecting to it.Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter
Setting up Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter is easy, but make sure to secure your display adapter from invited guests. We have added a few FAQs at the end that will help you decide to go for Microsoft’s solution or an alternate one.1] Connect Adapter to a TV
The first step is to make sure the display adapter is correctly powered. If your TV doesn’t have a USB port that can support the correct voltage (5V) to the adapter, then you will have to connect to an external power source for the same.
Plug the HDMI end of the adapter to the HDMI port of the TV. Repeat the same with the USB port or external adapter if it’s powerful enough.
Switch the input source of the TV to the HDMI port on which the adapter is connected.2] Download & install Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter app
Microsoft offers an app for the Wireless Display Adapter through the Microsoft Store.
It allows you to configure these for the device:
Adapter Settings: Setup name, adjust display, and language. Make sure to set up a unique name after the correction is made. If there is more than one adapter in your vicinity, it will help you identify yours. You will have to disconnect and reconnect the adapter to see the changes reflected on other devices.
Security Settings: Setup PIN to restrict unknown sources to connect to the device. It will make sure to prevent others from connecting to your adapter
Firmware: Update firmware settings for the device when available. It will improve the overall performance of the device.3] Connect Windows 10 device to the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter
The wireless display is like a second monitor except that there is no wire. So you need to follow the same steps you follow to manage dual monitor.
Use Win+P to open Windows Project.
It will display options to configure with a second monitor, and in the end, there is a link that says “Connect Wireless Display.”
Enter the Pin, and if it’s correct, you will be able to connect and stream. What can you do with Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter?
If you have ever used casting, this is similar to that. Here is the list of things you can do with it.
You can either use it as a replacement to a projector or as a second screen. No wires, though.
Anyone can stream videos to the TV.
When using a second monitor, you can move apps on it, give a presentation, and more.
Not only Windows but if you have any device which can cast, it will work with that.Difference between Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter & Chromecast?
Chromecast is built for streaming, while Microsft’s solution allows you to duplicate your computer screen. The next major difference is that Chromecast needs the internet to start streaming while the Display Adapter uses Direct Wi-Fi and works without the internet. It is best suited for a group that does not want to depend on internet stability to get started.
If you are wondering which one is better for you, then consider offline and online as your criteria since there is a price difference between them. If you want the casting to work anytime you want, choose Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter, else Chromecast should work fine.
I hope the post was easy to understand, and you were able to use the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter and use it with your computer.
However, this is not your typical quality update that you get every month, the Creators Update is a big update. Technically, it’s a new version of Windows 10, and during the installation there are a lot things that can go wrong. At least initially, it’s expected that devices may come across errors and unknown bugs due to the fact that there are many different hardware configurations, and building a new OS is a not an easy task.
In this guide, you’ll learn a number of things you can do to avoid errors and other problems during the Windows 10 Creators Update installation. Whether you decide to use the Windows Update, Media Creation Tool, or Update Assistant to install the new version of the OS.Create a full backup of your device
While installing a new version of Windows 10 should be a straightforward process, sometimes the installation may fail and the rollback process won’t work.
You should spend the extra time to create a full backup of your system to go back to the previous installation if something goes wrong.Ensure enough storage space is available
Perhaps one of the most common problems is no enough space on the hard drive to complete an upgrade of Windows 10. Usually, you will see this problem on low-cost devices with limited storage capacity and older computers.
To prevent storage problems, make sure that your device has at least 20GB of free space available for the download and installation. If you don’t have enough space, it’s possible to use the Settings app to delete temporary and other unnecessary files. Alternatively, you can also connect an empty USB flash drive with at least 8GB to 16GB of space that Windows 10 will automatically use as secondary storage to successfully install the update.
After the upgrade, you can use this Windows 10 guide to clean up the hard drive and reclaim disk space.Remove security and non-essential apps
Sometimes security software could be the reason your device is failing to install the upgrade. If you’re running an antivirus, other than Windows Defender, or other security software, make sure to disable or temporarily uninstall the software before proceeding with the upgrade.
Older programs designed for previous versions can also cause compatibility problems, as such make sure to uninstall any software that make cause issues during the installation. You can always reinstall them after updating your device to the Windows 10 Creators Update.Disconnect non-essential peripherals
Sometimes installation problems can be caused by a peripheral that is not compatible. To avoid any issues, you may want to disconnect all unnecessary peripherals, like printers, webcams, especially storage media (e.g., USB flash drive and external hard drive) connected to your computer — just use the essentials: network adapter to connect to the internet, monitor, keyboard and mouse.Export important settings
It’s been known that sometimes after an upgrade, Windows 10 reset some of your settings, including privacy and default apps settings. If you have a particular configuration, make sure to note them before installing the new version to avoid problems.Dealing with error messages
There are countless errors that can appear during an installation. If you’re having issues during and after the upgrade process, note the error code or exact message, and use your favorite search engine to research the problem. Typically, errors on Windows 10 are sometimes common problems with easy fixes. You could also find out that it’s actually a problem with Windows 10 that Microsoft is working to fix.
For example, an error that begins with 0xC1900101 (e.g., 0xC1900101 – 0x20004, 0xC1900101 – 0x2000c, 0xC1900101 – 0x20017, 0xC1900101 – 0x30018, 0xC1900101 – 0x3000D, 0xC1900101 – 0x4000D, 0xC1900101 – 0x40017) is usually a driver error. If you see error 0xC1900208 – 0x4000C indicates that an incompatible app installed, and it’s blocking the upgrade process. And error 0x80070070 – 0x50011 (0x50012 or 0x60000) typically means that your PC doesn’t have enough space available to install the upgrade.
You can contact Microsoft on Twitter (@WindowsSupport) to get quick help, you can contact the company directly, or you can take your computer to a Microsoft Store to see if anyone can help you.Stop blocking feature updates
If you’ve previously configured your PC to defer Windows 10 feature updates, the Creators Update won’t download and install on your device.
In the case, you used the Group Policy editor to defer upgrades, you also want to make sure to undo these changes.Disable network metered connection Reset Windows Update
Sometimes, you may not be able to download new updates because Windows Update isn’t working correctly. You can always try to reset the Windows Update components to fix stuck updates trying to download and install. If this doesn’t fix the problem, you can use the Update Assistant to install the Windows 10 Creators Update.Install the Windows 10 Creators Update manually
You can use this guide to do a clean install of Windows 10 with the Creators Update. However, if you prefer to do an in-place upgrade of the new version to keep your files, settings, and apps, you can use these steps:
Select the Upgrade this PC now option.
Once the setup wizard takes over, and it’ll proceed updating your PC. It should be noted that during this process, nothing will be erased, your computer will be kept intact with all your settings, apps, and files.
If you selected to keep Nothing, once the installation completes, you’ll need to go through the out-of-box experience (OOBE) to finish setting up your device.
This video will walk you through the upgrade process to get the Windows 10 Creators Update installed on your device:
If you’re not ready to deal with possible problems with the Windows 10 Creators Update, remember that you can defer feature updates until a later time, or you can use this guide to rollback to the previous version of the OS.
Windows 10 just like any other OS comes with frequent updates to keep your device secure with the latest security patches, features, and improvements. However, when a new feature update becomes available (e.g., Windows 10 Fall Creators Update), it can cause a lot of problems in the early days.
Usually, during a major rollout, a new version of Windows 10 may still have unknown bugs, and features and devices drivers may still not work as expected, which is why sometimes it could be better defer an upgrade for a few months until most of the problems are fixed.
In this guide, you’ll learn the steps to temporarily prevent Windows 10 from downloading and installing the Fall Creators Update on your PC using the Settings app, Local Group Policy editor, and using a metered connection on Windows 10 Home. How to defer Windows 10 Fall Creators Update using Settings
Starting with the Windows 10 Creators Update, using the Settings app is possible to configure the defer options for new features updates and pause quality updates. However, these options are only available on Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise, and Education.
Microsoft provides two branch readiness levels to receive feature updates. The “Current Branch” is the readiness level everyone is enrolled by default, and this level gets updates when Microsoft releases a new version of Windows 10.
On the other hand, the “Current Branch for Business” gets feature updates when Microsoft confirms that features are ready for enterprise deployment. If you want to delay updates as long as possible, you should considering selecting this option.
If you’re running Windows 10 in the “Current Branch”, you can defer feature updates for up to 365 days since the day it was original released. In the “Current Branch for Business”, you can also defer updates for up to 365 days, but devices in this level get new features update 4 months after the “Current Branch”. Therefore, in the Current Branch for Business, you can defer feature updates up to 16 months.
To defer feature updates using the Settings app, do the following:
Under Choose when updates are installed, select the readiness level: Current Branch or Current Branch for Business.
Select the number of days up to 365 days.
Quick Tip: To delay a new version of Windows 10 as long as possible, select Current Branch for Business and select 365 days. These settings will block new feature updates for 16 months.
Once you completed the steps, Windows 10 will not download and install new versions until after the defer time you specified.
It should also be noted that there is an option to defer quality updates (those updates you get every month), but you can only delay these updates up to 30 days. However, you can use the Pause Updates option that temporarily prevents new updates from being installed for up to 35 days. How to defer Windows 10 Fall Creators Update using Group Policy
The easiest way to defer the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is using the Settings app. However, it’s also possible to use the Local Group Policy editor to achieve the same result with the difference that you can also pause feature updates for up to 60 days.
To defer feature updates using the Local Group Policy editor, do the following:
Use the Windows Key + R keyboard shortcut to open the Run command.
Type chúng tôi and press Enter to open the Local Group Policy Editor.
Browse the following path:
Select the Enabled option.
Under “Options”, select Current Branch for Business from the drop-down menu.
Choose for how long you want to defer upgrades. You can defer receiving feature updates up to 365 days.
On Pause Feature Updates, you can also to temporary pause major releases from downloading and installing on your PC. The pause will remain in effect for 60 days or until you clear the check box.
How to defer Fall Creators Update on Windows 10 Home
If you’re running Windows 10 Home, you don’t have an option to block the Fall Creators Update from downloading and installing automatically. However, you can set your Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection as metered, which limits how the OS access and uses an internet connection, and when enabled, updates won’t download automatically to your PC.Setting a Wi-Fi connection as metered to defer Fall Creators Update
If you want set a wireless network connection as metered, do the following:
Turn on the Set as metered connection toggle switch to enable and restrict background data usage.Setting an Ethernet connection as metered to defer Fall Creators Update
If you want set a Ethernet (wired) network connection as metered, do the following:
Turn on the Set as metered connection toggle switch to enable and restrict background data usage.
This method will block all kinds of updates, meaning that your computer will be unprotected until you disable the metered connection.Wrapping things up
Although these instructions allows you to temporarily delay the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update from installing automatically, it’s not meant to discourage your from installing feature updates. On Windows 10, and on any operating system, updates are crucial to protect your device and data from hackers and viruses, ransomware and other type of malware.
The Fall Creators Update not only improves Windows 10, but it brings a slew of new features, such as My People, Timeline, Story Remix, Microsoft Graph, Microsoft Fluent Design System, new Settings options, security improvements, and much more.
These steps are only meant to postpone the update to a later date, until you know for sure that bugs and issues that may appear during the early days have been fixed to reduce issues on your PC, laptop, or tablet.
It’s official, Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is the name for the next major update of Windows, and it’s expected to arrive in September. You read it correctly, instead of using a different name, Microsoft is using “Creators Update” again as part of the new name.
The Fall Creators Update is the fourth feature update Windows 10 is receiving since it was first released two years ago, and it’s focus on adding new experiences and expanding functionalities to iOS and Android devices.Windows 10 Fall Creators Update new features
Here are the new features that Microsoft announced during the conference:Fluent Design System
Starting with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, Microsoft is introducing a new design language officially known as “Microsoft Fluent Design System” (formerly known as Project Neon). This new design language will be integrated into the OS and apps, and according to Microsoft, it’ll deliver a more intuitive, responsive, and inclusive cross-device experiences and interactions.
In other words, Windows 10 and apps will just look prettier with new translucent, blur, and animation effects.Microsoft Graph
Microsoft has finally realized that most Windows 10 users will use many devices from different platforms, and the Fall Creators Update will make sure Windows 10 plays well with those devices. You’ll see this approach with new features like Timeline, pick up where I left off, OneDrive Files on Demand, and Clipboard that will leverage Microsoft Graph to bring devices together.Timeline
The Taskbar Task View is now evolving and becoming Timeline. This is a new feature that displays tasks you’re doing previously, and quickly pick up on that file, app, or website in real-time.Cortana
Pick up where you left off was first introduced with the Windows 10 Creators Update, and now it’ll be available across devices, including Windows, Android, and iOS devices.Clipboard
Microsoft has teasing a cloud-powered clipboard for a long time, and now it’ll be coming with the Fall Creators Update. Clipboard is just an easy way to copy and paste anything across devices. For example, you can copy a piece of text on your desktop and paste it on your phone.OneDrive File on Demand
On the next feature update, Windows 10 will finally bring placeholders back to OneDrive, but under the “OneDrive File on Demand” name. Just like before, this feature allows you to access files in the cloud without having to download them to your computer. OneDrive will also be smart enough to predict which files you’re going to need, and it’ll download them automatically on your computer.Story Remix
Story Remix is a new experience part of the Photos app that will be available in the Windows Store, and it’ll allow users to quickly and easily create videos of photos and other videos, just like it was possible with Windows Movie Maker.
The new app using artificial intelligence and machine learning to automatically find relevant content on your collections to create video stories with soundtrack, theme, and transitions. You’ll be able to keep the suggested videos, delete, or edit them to your liking.
You’ll also be able to use Remix 3D and Paint 3D in your Story Remix project to add 3D, animations, and effect to your movies. It’s even possible to pin objects or draw into scenes, similar to how Snapchat’s new augmented reality lenses work.Windows Store
Microsoft has also announced that the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update will bring a number of new apps to the Windows Store, including iTunes with complete support for iPhone and other Apple devices on any Windows 10 and Windows 10 S devices.
Autodesk will expand support Windows Mixed Reality bringing its 3D game engine and real-time rendering software, Stingray to the Store. And SAP will be bringing its SAP Digital Boardroom app to the Store as well.Linux on Windows
While you can already use Bash on Ubuntu on Windows 10, the Fall Creators Update will bring SUSE Linux, and Fedora Linux, which you’ll be able to download from the Store.Mixed Reality
In addition, the company will be shipping a set of new motion controllers to use with new experience with no markers required. This means that the controllers are standalone devices, and you won’t need to install sensors around the wall to use Windows Mixed Reality.Wrapping things up
As you can see there is a lot that Microsoft is planning to deliver with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. Although the company hasn’t specify the exact release day, we’re expecting the next feature update to arrive some time in September.

Paint is always a great way to update furniture and this painted curio cabinet is no exception!
I love modernizing furniture with paint, like this weathered wood stain finish on a dining table, ombre painted dresser and this decoupaged dresser.

It seems like in the ’90s, no house was complete without a display cabinet filled with tchotchkes.
My house had a few. In fact, my dad gave me a small display cabinet when I got married.
Display cabinets have since gone out of style, but when I saw one in a thrift store, I had to have it.
Maybe I felt nostalgic, maybe the ’90s are back. Who knows?
Even the thrift store employees seemed confused as to why I bought it. But I had a vision to completely modernize it.
I could see that behind its sad brown existence, this display cabinet wanted to be beautiful and could be with a bit of work.
BEFOREWhat is a curio cabinet?
A curio cabinet is a display cabinet to show off your favorite collections. They typically have glass doors and a mirrored backing. What do you put in a curio cabinet?
Curio cabinets are great for sharing your collections. For a modern look, add books and greenery.
Small curio cabinets would look great in a bathroom to hold toiletries and white towels.Painted Curio Cabinet Tutorial Supplies Needed How to Paint a Curio Cabinet: Prep Work
Clean the furniture.
First, I had to clean the cabinet. It was just dusty, so I wiped it down with a wet rag. Read more about how I clean old furniture before painting.
Prime the curio cabinet.
Since this cabinet was laminate, I started with a coat of my favorite primer. This stuff is amazing.
It’s a bit smelly, but not super toxic. Use a chip brush with it and have ammonia on hand to clean the brush.
Read more about priming furniture here.Painted Curio Cabinet
After a coat of primer, I started painting.
I’ve used this paint before and I love it. It’s very accessible and inexpensive as far as chalk paint goes.
The coverage is fantastic! It’s almost one coat, but I put on two coats.
The color is just gorgeous! I was a bit worried that it would feel too country, but I love it.
After painting, I added a sealer. I didn’t want to use wax, so I added a coat of polycrylic.Finishing Touches for the Curio Cabinet
Clean up the paint splatter.
So at this point, there’s paint all over the cabinet and it looks a mess, right? Wrong.
Cleaning paint off of glass is easy.
I use a utility knife around the edge to score it and then use a scraper and the paint peels right up.
Cleaning it with Windex and a bit of elbow grease takes care of the rest.
Wallpaper the back.
That mirror is still a bummer, right? Why mirror the back? Who wants to look at the back of stuff?
I covered it with beadboard wallpaper that I had on hand.
This stuff is foolproof even if you’ve never wallpapered before. Just soak it in water for a few seconds and let it sit for a few minutes. Then apply it.
It slides around until you get it positioned right.
And it looks so pretty, unlike that horrible mirror! It already looks better!
So you might have noticed that in the before picture, I cracked the glass. I removed the glass and still need to get a new piece cut at the hardware store.
For now, let’s just pretend that I’m really good at cleaning glass and it’s just super clean! 😉
I ended up replacing it with a piece of plexiglass that I had cut at the hardware store.
The shelves were cut out of wood and painted white. We used a paper template to get the shape right.
Add a pretty knob. A new knob makes a huge difference!
I love the way it looks now. This sad display cabinet was quite the ugly duckling!
Now it’s a beautiful swan! Just don’t fill it with Hummel and Precious Moments figurines.
Just kidding. Fill your curio cabinets with whatever makes you happy.
Isn’t the blue pretty? By the way, I had a little visitor over and the display cabinet made the perfect pretend refrigerator to keep pretend pizza in. So there’s that. 🙂
Just pretend those books are pizza.
So what do you think? Do you want a chalk-painted curio cabinet now?Other Ideas for Updating an Old Curio Cabinet
Use a fun patterned wallpaper in the back. A floral pattern would create one look, while a rustic wood look would create another look.
Modernize what you put in the cabinet. Ditch the figurines and fill it with coral, antlers, and plants for a cabinet of curiosity look.
Fill it with books or your favorite vintage collection.
Use it in a different place than you would expect. This curio cabinet would look amazing in a bathroom filled with towels, bath salts, and loofah.
Or cookbooks and vintage kitchenware in a kitchen.
Make it into a bar with fun glassware and liquor bottles. If you like this post, you might also like these: Pin for Later!
