Microsoft’s plan is to actually sideload the Android apps from the Amazon app store, which sparked controversy among users.
One of the features that users got most excited about when Microsoft announced all the possibilities for Windows 11, is the native integration of Android apps into the OS.
But the story isn’t quite what Microsoft first showed it to be during the unveiling event. In fact, its not even close to what most of us were imagining.

While talking to Windows Report, Xia Yuanwei, from LD Player, shared his opinion on the developing situation, involving the integration of native Android apps into Windows 11.
In fact, using the native word is a bit farfetched, considering the way this whole system was put in place, in the first place.
So, in order to use Android apps on Windows 11 you have to actually sideload them. What this means is that when you try to download an app from the Microsoft Store, you actually download it from the Amazon Store instead.
Which also means that you will have to be signed in to an Amazon account, in order to actually do so.
As you can imagine, not many users are to content with the choice that Microsoft made, as the number of apps you can get on Amazon doesn’t even come close to what we could get from Google Play store, for example.
This whole app in an app, in an app scenario, is why some Android emulator companies are pushing the bar even higher and trying to create a better user experience when it comes to Android apps on your PC.
According to the current news from Microsoft so far, they only support apps from Amazon store. They don’t offer some features like multi-instance, keymapping, macro, etc. Also, the system may not be able to sideload apks therefore users can’t download the apps only on Google Play or another store. Based on this, LDPlayer would be much better than using the new W11 feature as it gets frequent updates to improve the compatibility and stableness of games. The company has all energy to put into building the emulator but this might not be the case for W11.

Needless to say that, if Intel pulls this off, Microsoft might have to totally rethink its Amazon Store strategy for the Android apps that are supposed to come to Windows 11.
Other Android emulator companies are already taking matters into their own hands and might even develop software to bypass all this cyber bureaucracy.

Exploring the chances of danger if Google’s LaMDA becomes biased.
There is no doubt that sentient AI has not been invented yet, but that does not stop LaMDA from copying the human biasedness and turning out to be somewhat racist. In a recent interview with Wired, engineer and mystic Christian priest Blake Lemoine discussed why he believes that Google’s large language model named LaMDA has become sentient, complete with a soul. While that claim has been refuted by many in the artificial intelligence community and has resulted in Lemoine being placed on paid administrative leave by Google, Lemoine also explained how he began working on LaMDA. His journey with AI started with a much more real-world problem: examining the model for harmful biases in relation to sexual orientation, gender, identity, ethnicity, and religion. “I do not believe there exists such a thing as an unbiased system,” said Lemoine to Wired. “The question was whether or not [LaMDA] had any of the harmful biases that we wanted to eliminate. The short answer is yes, I found plenty.”The Biased “bugs”
Lemoine also explained that the Google team has done a good job repairing these biased “bugs,” as far as he could tell. When asked whether LaMDA showed racist or sexist tendencies, Lemoine answered carefully, stating that he “wouldn’t use that term.” Instead, he claims “the real question is whether or not the stereotypes it uses would be endorsed by the people that [LaMDA is] talking about.” Lemoine’s hesitancy to label LaMDA’s “bugs” as outright racist or sexist highlights an ongoing battle within the AI community, where many have spoken out about the harmful stereotypes that AI systems often perpetuate. But when those who do speak out about these issues are largely Black women — and those women are subsequently fired from companies like Google — many feel that it falls on men in tech like Lemoine to continue to call attention to AI’s current bias problems, rather than confound researchers’ and the public’s attention span with claims of AI sentience.
“I don’t want to talk about sentient robots, because at all ends of the spectrum there are humans harming other humans, and that’s where I’d like the conversation to be focused,” said former Google Ethical AI team co-lead Timnit Gebru in an interview with Wired. Artificial intelligence faces long history of harmful stereotypes, and Google is not new to or unaware of these issues.Use Cases of Previous Biasedness
In 2024, Jacky Alciné tweeted about Google Photos tagging 80 photos of a Black man to an album titled “gorillas.” Google Photos learned how to do so using a neural network, which analyzed enormous sets of data in order to categorize subjects like people and gorillas — clearly, incorrectly. It was the responsibility of Google engineers to ensure that the data used to train its AI photosystem was correct and diverse. And when it failed, it was their responsibility to rectify the issue. According to the New York Times, Google’s response was to eliminate “gorilla” as a photo category, rather than retrain its neural network.
Companies like Microsoft, IBM, and Amazon also face the same biased AI issues. At each of these companies, the AI used to power facial recognition technology encounter significantly higher error rates when identifying the sex of women with darker skin tones than when compared to sex identification of lighter skin, as reported by the Times.
In 2023, Gebru published a paper with six other researchers, four of whom also worked at Google, criticizing large language models like LaMDA and their propensity to parrot words based on the datasets that they learn from. If those datasets contain biased language and/or racist or sexist stereotypes, then AIs like LaMDA would repeat those biases when generating language. Gebru also criticized training language models with increasingly larger datasets, allowing the AI to learn to mimic language even better and convincing audiences of progress and sentience, as Lemoine fell into.
After a dispute over this paper, Gebru says Google fired her in December 2023 (the company maintains she resigned). A few months later, Google also fired Dr. Margaret Mitchell, founder of the ethical AI team, a co-author of the paper, and defender of Gebru.
Despite a supposed commitment to “responsible AI,” Google still faces ethical AI problems, leaving no time for sentient AI claims After the drama and admitted hit to its reputation, Google promised to double its responsible AI research staff to 200 people. And according to Recode, CEO Sundar Pichai pledged his support to fund more ethical AI projects. These small, controlled feature updates are what Microsoft is now referring to as “continuous innovation.” These are the “Windows 11 Moments” — a term that has been used before, but that Microsoft is not using right now– for updates that can be added in between major feature updates.
You’ll be able to download the first of these in October, adding the tabbed File Explorer menu that didn’t quite cross the finish line in time for the Windows 11 2023 Update’s release. Otherwise, they’ll be more broadly released in November, Microsoft says.
In short, here’s what you need to know: Microsoft is moving back to a single, major feature release for Windows 11 per year, rather than the current two. In between, Microsoft will roll out an undisclosed number of CFRs to consumers, on an undisclosed schedule. It all comes with a benefit, Microsoft says: better responsiveness and reliability. Microsoft says it’s already seeing a reduction of bugs as a result.
Windows vice president Aaron Woodman denied earlier reporting that Windows is on a three-year cadence, however, or that Windows 12 is on the horizon. “You know, I have not heard of anyone internally saying, you know, we’re in a three year cadence,” Woodman said in a briefing with reporters. “So there’s nothing there. From a Microsoft perspective, we’re on an annual release cadence. Our intention is to bring innovation to those customers as quickly as possible.”What Windows 11’s new release timing means for you
The Windows 11 2023 Update begins rolling out today, and our Windows 11 2023 Update (22H2) review details a middling release, with substantive changes but not where users expect. The new Windows release also omits some features that were expected, based upon test builds Microsoft released publicly.
That’s okay, executives say. The CFRs allow Microsoft to take the time to test new features appropriately, then add them when they’re ready. “From a quality perspective…[there are some features] that just can’t make the cart,” Woodman said. “And so the question to us first and foremost is, do we wait for the next cart a year later?”
This tabbed File Explorer interface will have to wait until October.
First, new CFR features will be tested via the Windows Insider program, as they are today. Microsoft executives didn’t specifically name which channel they would be deployed in, but Microsoft has used the Beta Channel previously. (Here’s how to join the Windows Insider program.)
John Cable, vice president of program management for Windows Servicing and Delivery, said that the next step will be early adopters; once CFRs are ready for general release, they’ll first be deployed in the optional non-security update you’ll sometimes see in Windows Update. The next step in what Cable called a “phased and measured approach” will be to push the new features as “feature experience packs.” They’ll be pushed to your PC automatically, like patches, and are designed with minimal bandwidth and storage requirements.
In a briefing with reporters, Microsoft executives didn’t say if you’ll be able to halt and manage the new CFR updates like you can currently pause feature updates. (Here’s how to pause Windows updates.) Businesses, however, will: the new CFRs will be off by default. (Typically, however, consumers can pause updates for a week or sometimes more.)
Cable said that this technique has been used previously for feature updates on Windows 10, rolling out updates to the user base at large when everything looks good.
What will be in these CFRs? Cable said Microsoft will use everything from blogs to email inbox notification emails to alert you how these new updates will affect your Windows experience. However, “for most [users], they’ll discover the features through natural discoverability within the OS,” he said.Can the new CFRs reduce Windows bugs?
As every Windows user knows, however, new code means new bugs. Microsoft, however, believes the new CFRs offer in just the opposite: better reliability.
It’s not clear that the CFRs are themselves responsible for the improvements in reliability. Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella allegedly made an infamous blunder in 2014 when he decided to cut a portion of the company’s quality-assurance team, placing the responsibility of finding and fixing bugs on the developers. Coincidentally (or not) Microsoft launched the Windows Insider program that same year, allowing the company to test its beta software with the public.
According to Cable, the company has made great strides in eliminating Windows bugs. “We have made massive improvements in this the number of update issues and update-related issues,” he said. “They’ve dropped precipitously, quarter over quarter and year over year in Windows 10, and we’re applying that to Windows 11.”
“It’s hard for me to promise that there won’t ever be any compatibility issues based on an update, but these changes that we’re making in our programs are designed to help with exactly this,” Cable added. “I do expect it to get much better based on these changes. But of course I can’t turn out a promise there won’t be any issues. I am excited to see the number of issues drop based on this innovation.”
To snap apps on Windows 11, hover over the “Maximize” button to open Snap Layouts (Windows key + Z).
Then choose the layout and where to snap the window, and continue with Snap Assist to snap another window.
You can also drag a window to the top of the screen to bring up the new Snap Layouts UI.

Snap Assist isn’t new to Windows 11. It’s been available since Windows 7, but it’s been evolving throughout the years, and now, you have access to many more functions, such as Snap Layouts, Snap groups, more accessible shortcuts, and more.

On Windows 11, you can snap windows in multiple ways using the mouse and keyboard. Here’s how.Snap apps with mouse
You can snap windows on the screen using the mouse in multiple ways. If you have a touch-enabled device, you can use the mouse actions as gestures to snap.
To snap two windows side by side, drag a window to the left edge of the screen to snap it to the side. Continue with Snap Assist and select the other window you want to snap to the right.
If you ignore Snap Assist, you can drag the other window to the right edge to snap it.
You can also drag the window to the corner edge to snap the window in one of the quadrants of the screen. Using the corners, you can snap three or four windows.
When you snap windows side by side, you can also resize the view by dragging the middle edge to the left or right.
Alternatively, you can hover over the maximize button with the mouse to open the Snap Layouts flyout and select where to snap the windows. Continue with Snap Assist and complete the snapping.
You can also drag a window to the top edge of the screen to reveal the Snap Layouts drop-down. Drop the window in the zone you want, and then continue with Snap Assist and complete the snapping.
The available layouts will appear according to the screen size if you use Snap Layouts.Snap apps with keyboard
You can also use the keyboard keys to use the snapping feature.
To snap two windows, press the “Windows Key + Left arrow” shortcut to snap the window in focus to the left side. Continue with Snap Assist and select the other window you want to snap to the right.
If you ignore Snap Assist, you can use the “Windows Key + Right arrow” shortcut to snap the window in focus to the right side.
You can also use the “Windows Key + Left and Up arrows” keyboard shortcut to snap the window to the top-left side corner. The “Windows Key + Right and Up arrows” shortcut to snap the window to the top-right side corner. The “Windows Key + Left and Down arrows” shortcut to snap the window to the bottom-left side corner. Alternatively, you can use the “Windows Key + Z” shortcut to open the Snap Layouts flyout from the maximize button, press one of the numbers to select the layout, and then press the number to select the snap zone. Continue with Snap Assist and select the other window you want to snap to the right or use the “Windows Key + Z” shortcut again to continue snapping windows.

Whether you use the mouse or keyboard to snap windows, you can switch between groups of snapped windows or jump to another application and then come back to the group using “Snap groups” by hovering over an app in the Taskbar that belongs to a group and selecting the Snap group from the thumbnail previews.Turn Snap feature on or off
Windows 11 gives you granular control over features while snapping windows. You can turn on or off snapping altogether and control each option individually.
To enable or disable Snap features on Windows 11, use these steps:
Turn on or off the Snap windows toggle switch to enable or disable the feature on Windows 11.
Check the “When I snap a window, suggest what I can snap next to it” option to enable Snap Assist. If you turn off the option, you won’t see a list of suggestions on what to snap next when snapping a window.
Check the “Show snap layouts when I hover over a window’s maximize button” option to enable the flyout in the maximize button.
Check the “Show snap layouts when I drag a window to the top of my screen” option to enable the new layouts down-down from the edge of the screen. If you turn off the option, the layouts flyout at the top of the screen will no longer be available.
Check the “Show my snapped windows when I hover over taskbar apps, in Task View, and when I press Alt+Tab” option to show thumbnail previews of snap grouping. This feature is also known as Snap groups.
(Optional) Check the “When I drag a window, let me snap it without dragging all the way to the edge of the screen” option to bring up Snap Assist as drag a window closer to the edge of the screen.
(Optional) Use the “Show Microsoft Edge tabs when snapping or pressing Alt + Tab” setting to decide the number of tabs in Snap Assist. You can also choose not to show tabs.
Once you complete the steps, you can use the keyboard and mouse to organize your windows on the screen.
If some snapping features are not working, you may not be using the latest version of Windows 11. Some features, such as Snap groups, Snap Layouts from the top of the screen, and Snap Layouts with numbers when using the keyboard shortcut, are only available after upgrading to version 22H2.

By default, Windows 11 comes with the latest Powershell 5.1 preinstalled. But you’d be surprised that Microsoft has also released a cross-platform Powershell Core (version 7.x) with extensive features.
Indeed, Powershell is popular among developers, system administrators, and even beginners, thanks to its easy-to-learn lightweight cmdlets. Thus, if you prefer this command-line interface, you’d definitely want to get your hands on its latest version.
Updating or installing the latest Powershell version is relatively easy. You can do it using the MSI package, Zip package, command lines, or even from the Microsoft Store!
Updating or migrating Powershell to 7.x requires manual installation. Once you’ve migrated to the core version, it runs side-by-side with the built-in Windows Powershell.
The open-source software holds features that might be lacking in the 5.1 version, like Automatic Pipeline Parallelization, Null conditional operators, and more. It also supports Docker containers, Defaults to UTF-8 encoding, Powershell Remoting over SSH, etc.

Note: To run Powershell 7.x on Windows Powershell, kindly execute the pwsh cmdlet. To get back to the 5.1 version, simply run the exit command. However, as discussed above, you need to have the version installed on your PC.
One of the easiest ways to launch Windows Powershell is from the Quick Link menu. Simply picking the Windows Terminal would open the utility.
