Finally, the wait is over for those owning a Verizon branded Galaxy Nexus as the official Android 4.0.4 update for it has been leaked and is available for manual flashing. Android 4.0.4 brings a lot of performance improvements and stability fixes, so it goes without saying that it’s quite an important update.

This update is for both the CDMA and LTE variants. However, the procedure below is a little complex, so make sure read it very carefully before attempting to update your device.

Now let’s take a look at how you can update your Verizon Galaxy Nexus (CDMA/LTE) to Android 4.0.4.

Compatibility

This ROM and the guide below are compatible only and only with the Verizon Galaxy Nexus CDMA/LTE, model number i515. It’s not compatible with any other device. Check your device model in Settings » About phone.

Warning!

The methods and procedures discussed here are considered risky and you should not attempt anything if you don’t know completely what it is. If any damage occurs to your device, we won’t be held liable.

Very Important! You must be on the stock Android 4.0.2 ROM and stock 4.0.2 radios (baseband) on your phone. Go to Settings » About phone on the phone, and ensure that:

Under Baseband Version, it says either EK02 or EK05 (or both) which are the stock 4.0.2 radio versions. There may be more text there, but ensure that the text includes EK02 or EK05 (or both).

The text under Build Number includes ICL53F which is the build number of the stock Android 4.0.2 ROM.

Important! Don’t forget to at least make a backup of your APN settings, which you can restore later if your data connection does not work after installing the ROM. Use the backup guide to find out how.

Important! You must unlock the bootloader on your Nexus. You can use this tool for unlocking the bootloader. You will lose all installed apps and data (but SD card data will not be deleted) by unlocking the bootloader, so make sure you have followed step 2 prior to this.

Download Drivers

Download the following files:

Filename: 12f767e7a5d0.signed-mysid-IMM76K-from-ICL53F.12f767e7.zip

Copy the two zip files downloaded in step 5.1 and 5.2 above to the SD card on your phone, and remember where you copy them to.

Extract the Fastboot.zip file to the C: drive on your computer to get a folder named Fastboot with four files inside it.

Copy the recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.0.2-toro.img file downloaded in step 5.4 to the Fastboot folder on C drive. You should have 5 files in the Fastboot folder now.

Enter fastboot mode. To do this, turn off the phone, then press and hold the following keys together: Power + Volume Up and Down. You will enter Fastboot mode. Then connect your phone to the computer once you are in fastboot mode.

Open Command Prompt on your computer from Start » All Programs » Accessories.

Now, type the following commands in command prompt to boot into CWM recovery temporarily, pressing Enter after each command (Check the screenshot after step 11.3 for reference).

cd c:Fastboot

fastboot devices (this is to ensure the phone gets detected. A string of numbers and letters should appear if the phone is properly detected, as shown in screenshot below. Else, make sure you have the phone drivers properly installed)

The phone will now reboot into Clockworkmod recovery.

Perform a wipe:

Select wipe cache then select Yes on next screen to confirm.

After the installation is complete, select choose zip from sdcard again, then scroll to and select the IMM76K_RADIOS_BOOTLOADER.zip file to flash the 4.0.4 radios and bootloader.

After the installation of the radios/bootloader package is complete, select go back then select reboot system now to reboot the phone.

You might have heard it more than many times already that Google has released KitKat, the version 4.4 of Android.

And you also know that Google has promised you the KitKat update very soon for your Nexus 4, but are not able to contain yourself too much with this and want to taste the Android 4.4 KitKat update right now.

Well, don’t be that sad, dear, as we’ve already got the Android 4.4 Update ready for you to install.

Please KNOW THAT this is not the official update from Google, which your Nexus 4 would be receiving in a matter of a week or two.

Note: You need a custom recovery to be able to install the Android 4.4 ROM we’ve got here.

CHECK DEVICE MODEL NO.

To make sure your device is eligible with this, you must first confirm its model no. in ‘About device’ option under Settings. Another way to confirm model no. is by looking for it on the packaging box of your device. It must be E960!

Do not use the procedures discussed here on any other device. You have been warned!

If your android device powers off due to lack of battery while the process is underway, it could damage the device.

So, make sure your device is adequately charged — at least 50% battery of the device.

If you haven’t used a custom recovery, either CWM or TWRP, before, to install a .zip file of a ROM on anything else, then we suggest you first watch a video of that, given right below, to get familiar with the process.

Reminder: Before you proceed, make sure you’ve transferred the files you downloaded above to a separate folder on your phone.

STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

Make sure you have backed up your phone adequately (including important data stored on internal memory). Also create a nandroid backup using your recovery for additional safety.

You’ll need either CWM or TWRP recovery for installing the AOSP Android 4.4 ROM on your Google Nexus 4. And since CWM and TWRP recoveries function differently we’ve put together separate guides for both of them. So if you’re a CWM user, follow the CWM users guide and if you’re a TWRP user follow the guide for TWRP users.

Boot into recovery mode. For this:

Power off your device and wait 4-5 seconds after lights go off.

Press and hold Volume Down + Power key together and release the Power key once the Google logo appears, but keep holding the Volume Down key. You will be in Bootloader mode now.

└ In recovery, use Volume buttons to navigate Up and Down between options and use Power button to select an option.

Create a Backup from recovery. It’s optional but very important to do, so that in case something goes wrong you can restore to current status easily.

Perform a Factory Reset (This will delete all apps and their settings and game progress). For this:

Select Wipe data/Factory reset, then select Yes on the next screen to confirm factory reset (screenshot)

Install the ROM .zip file first. For this:

└ Make sure to first flash the ROM file and then the Gapps file.

If you want root, also flash the SuperSU file, in the same way like ROM and Gapps file

After you are done with flashing of the files, reboot your device. For this, go back to the main menu of recovery and select reboot system now.

That’s all. Your phone will now reboot and it will take some time as it’ll be phone’s first boot after installing Android 4.4, be extremely excited for this!

Go back to the main menu of recovery and tap on Reboot » then, tap on System to reboot your phone.

That’s all. Your phone will now reboot and it will take some time as it’ll be phone’s first boot after installing Android 4.4, KitKat. Be very excited, man!

STEP 2: INSTALL THE LATEST CWM/TWRP RECOVERY

Skip this step if you you already have latest version of CWM or TWRP recovery installed on your device.

Make sure that you’ve latest version of the recovery installed on your device.

Older versions of CWM and TWRP recoveries are not working with Android 4.4 based ROMs, throwing installation errors and WiFi bugs, therefore you need to use the latest version of either recovery.

►GET TWRP RECOVERY FOR GALAXY NOTE 2 LTE

STEP 3: INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Download the file given below and transfer it to a separate folder on your phone and remember the location.

Be sure to transfer the ROM and Gapps files you downloaded above to your phone and remember the location of the files.

You will need to flash them now on your device using either of ClockworkMod (CWM) or TWRP recovery.

We’ve got separate guide for CWM and TWRP recovery, so use the guide relevant to the recovery you have installed on your device.

Boot into recovery mode. If you’re rooted, the easiest way to boot into recovery mode would be using the QuickBoot app. If not rooted, then follow the instructions below:

Power off your device and wait for 5-10 seconds until the device is fully switched off.

└ In Recovery mode, use Volume buttons to navigate Up and Down between options and use Power button to select an option.

Create a Nandroid Backup from recovery. It’s optional but very important to do, so that in case something goes wrong you can restore to current status easily. For making a Nandroid Backup, go to Backup And Restore » Backup.

Perform a full clean-up of the device (This will delete all apps and their settings and game progress). For this:

Select Wipe data/Factory reset, then select Yes on the next screen to confirm factory reset (screenshot).

Select Wipe Cache Partition, then select Yes on the next screen to confirm wiping cache.

Now, format the system. Go to mounts and storage and select format/system, and then select Yes on next screen.

First Install the ROM file:

Select Install zip » Choose zip from sdcard (or external sdcard, you know where your files are) » browse to the location where you saved the file and select the ROM file.

└Make sure to first flash the ROM file and then the Gapps file.

Reboot your device. For this, go back to the main menu of recovery and select reboot system now.

That’s all. Your phone will now reboot and it will take some time as it’ll be phone’s first boot after installing Android 4.4, be extremely excited for this!

Note: In case your device gets bootloop (stuck at logo while rebooting), just do a factory reset (step 3) and you will be fine.

Note: In case your device gets bootloop (stuck at logo while rebooting), just do a factory reset (step 3) and you will be fine.

How To Force Download Android 10 Update On Samsung Galaxy Note 9 ]

While it might no longer be the most powerful Galaxy Note device, the Galaxy Note 9 is still one of the few handsets which are getting a taste of what Android 10 is like. Last year’s Samsung flagship is sure to get the jump to the latest mobile OS from Google and the South Korean company has already commenced the One UI 2 beta program for Galaxy Note 9 users in Korea.

The stable Android 10 update for the Note 9 is available as build DSLB and DTA1 in Europe and DTA4 in the US; the full software versions being N960FXXU4DSLB and N960FXXS4DTA1 in Europe, and N960USQU3DTA4 in the US.

Instructions

Step 1: Make sure you have enabled ‘OEM unlock‘ under the Developer options in the Settings app.

Step 3: Also, download Odin PC software (latest version, 3.13.3).

Step 5: Extract the Odin file. You should get the Odin exe file (other files could be hidden, hence not visible).

Step 6: Disconnect your Galaxy device from PC if it is connected.

Step 7: Boot your device into download mode:

Power off your device. Wait for 6-7 seconds after the screen goes off.

Connect the device to PC using the USB cable while pressing and holding Volume down + Bixby buttons together until you see the Warning screen (image).

Press Volume Up to continue to download mode.

Step 9: Connect your device now using the USB cable. Odin should recognize your device. It’s a must. When it recognizes, you will see Added!! message appearing in the Log box in the bottom left, and the first box under ID:COM will also show a no. and turn its background blue. Look at the pic below.

You cannot proceed until you get the Added!! message, which confirms that Odin has recognized your device.

If you don’t get Added!! message, you need to install/re-install drivers again and use the original cable that came with the device. Mostly, drivers are the problem (look at step 2 above).

You can try different USB ports on your PC too.

Info: When you load files, Odin checks the md5 sum of the firmware file, which takes time. So, simply wait until that’s done and the firmware file is loaded. Don’t worry if Odin gets unresponsive for a while, it’s normal. Binary size will also show up in Odin.

Go back to the Log tab now, as it will show the progress of the firmware installation when you hit the start button in the next step.

Wait till the installation is finished, after which your device will reboot automatically. You’ll get the PASS message as shown below upon successful installation from Odin.

Some errors you may run into, and with the respective solution.

If Odin gets stuck at setup connection, then you need to do this all again. Disconnect your device, close Odin, boot device into download mode again, open Odin, and then select the file and flash it again as said above.

If you get FAIL in the top left box, then also you need to flash the file again as stated just above.

Done!

Once you install the Android 10 firmware on your Note 9, it will reboot. It will take it time restarting, so be patient, and when it’s done, it will start optimizing apps, after which you will have Android 10 running on your device.

How To Connect Nexus 7 (And Other Android 4.0+ Devices) To Ubuntu

If you are a Ubuntu user and own an Android device (running Android version 4.0 or above), you will know that you can’t plug in the device to your computer and have it show up in your file manager. The reason for this is because Android 4.0 and above is using MTP protocol as the connection bridge and MTP is not fully supported in Linux. We have previously shown you how to connect your Galaxy Nexus and Kindle Fire to Ubuntu, but those methods are usually a hit or miss and pose more problems than usual. Today, I am going to show you another method to connect up your Android device and Ubuntu.

Go-mtpfs is a simple FUSE filesystem that is built upon the MTP library used for previous tutorials. Once you have compiled and installed it, you will be able to mount and unmount your Android device easily and reliably. I have tested it on my phone and it works all the time.

The developer of Go-mtpfs does not provide a PPA or deb file, so you have to grab the source and compile it manually.

Alternatively, you can use the unstable PPA by WebUpd8:

Once installed, plug in your Nexus 7, Galaxy Nexus or any other phone that are using the MTP protocol, to the computer.

1. Create an “Android” folder in your Home directory. Ignore this if it is already created.

2. Unlock your Android device. (It won’t work if your Android device is locked).

3. In the terminal, type:

4. Open your file manager and you should see your Android device mounted.

From here, you will be able to access the internal SD card of your Android device and copy/move files over from your computer.

Note: It is important not to pull out the cable and disconnect the device while it is mounted. To properly unmount the device, use this command:

For Unity Users:

If you are using Unity desktop, you can install the custom Unity launcher to easily mount and unmount the device.

To install:

Open your file manager and navigate to “/usr/share/applications”. Drag and drop the “Mount Android Device” launcher to the Unity launcher.
