Checkers is one of those classic games we have learned to play from our grandparents on a hot Saturday afternoon. Pretty much like Backgammon, and if you fancy that game you should check out some interesting apps over here.
So Windows 8, Windows 10 and Windows RT users will probably be happy to know that they can find in the Windows app store a bunch of Checkers apps that will fulfill their cravings. No matter if you haven’t played it in a while, you can rediscover the fun of Checkers on your Windows 8, Windows 10 machine.
Endless hours of fun with Windows 8, Windows 10 top Checkers appsCheckers Deluxe is a great free version of checkers games for Windows 10 and Windows 8.1 users. You can play six different game variations which will enhance your checkers experience.
This free Windows 8, Windows 10 features the classic game of checkers. Jump over the pieces of your opponent in order to “eat” them and make them disappear from the board. The player who manages to scratch off all the pieces first wins. The app allows for 2 levels of difficulty, while the game-play is judged by the standard US Tournament rules.
Regardless of the fact that this is a free app, the graphics are quite an improvement from the previous appication we reviewed. Here a player can start a tournament against a human opponent or a computer. There are three levels available: Beginner, Medium and Expert so the app is a great environment for noobs to start training. A plus you will certainly notice while playing with this app is the great background sounds.
With this app we notice some improvements as well. There is an extra level of difficulty added – expert. Users can still opt to play against the computer or a human opponent, while progress and wins are being kept track of. The goal is however to drop in the checkers to get 4 in row before the other player does, hence the name of the app.
This paid Windows 8, Windows 10 app features improved graphics and an addictive game play. The pieces have to be captured before the opponent and one can do so diagonally. There are 3 levels of difficulty but what’s special about this app is that it allows for machines to play against each other. The game can also be set to show the available moves, so if you haven’t played before you have a chance to learn now.
This is a variation to the game of checkers, which allows for the pieces to jump in every direction, not just diagonally like in the classic game. More than that in Dameo they can jump over whole rows. Being an online app you can team up and play with player from around the world. The app brings a social element to the game play, allowing chat. ELO Rankings will show you how many games you won or lost and the developing trends.

Airplanes is without a doubt, the best Battleship game to be played in Windows 8, Windows 10 and Windows RT device. Have a look at the review below to see why we think it’s so great!
One game that we all share from our youth is Battleship: the one where you had a board and you placed ships on it and tried to guess where your opponent’s ship is. If you remember that game, and you want to recreate that childhood experience, then Airplanes for Windows 10, Windows 8 is game that lets you do just that.
This simple game is very entertaining, even now, after so many years have passed since we last played it. Nevertheless, those of you who still want to kill your time by playing Battleship, you can give this game a try.
Airplanes brings the Battleship experience to Windows 10, Windows 8This free game can be downloaded for free from the Windows Store and installed on any Windows 10, Windows 8/RT device. While the game itself is free to play, users who want some extra features will have to pay $1.49 to unlock them. These extra features consist of larger boards and more airplanes.
As all of you know, the purpose of the game is to shoot down your opponent’s airplanes by guessing where they are located on the board. If you shoot the front end of the game (the cockpit), that plane will automatically be destroyed. The player who manages to destroy all the airplanes of the opponent wins the game.
As for the app itself, it is pretty well built, in the course of my tests all the features were running great. The graphics are pretty basic, but in this type of games, they are not very important. Nevertheless, the game looks pretty good, and its textures are well picked, so you can concentrate on your game.
The game offers users both single player mode, which is the Training area, where they will play against a computer, which is pretty easy to beat and a online mode, where you play against actual players. In the main screen of the game, you have your board, and when it switches from your side to the opponent, there is a nice transition effect.
Users have the possibility of sending short messages to their opponents when playing with human players, however, there is no custom chat window and you only have a few lines to pick from. Nevertheless, it is still a good feature, and I hope the developer will make a full chat window in the future.
At the end of the game, users can also share their score over Twitter. There is also a Facebook share button, but when I pressed it, it still forwarded me to Twitter. This feature works best on the other platforms that this game is on, and those are: Windows Phone and Facebook.
Overall, I think Airplanes for Windows 10, Windows 8 is a very nice game and a nice experience for fans of the game. The possibility to play online and also invite friends to play with are some very nice features. I had lots of fun testing out Airplanes for Windows 10, Windows 8 and I hope that you will find it as amusing as I did.

The apps and programs that aren’t available in Windows Store, but can be found on Google Play for example, are important software that can ease your daily work and which can help you schedule your daily program, or why not, entertain you and your family. So, during the following lines I will list these apps that aren’t yet available on Windows Store; of course, we hope that each tool mentioned here will be eventually released for our Windows 8 based devices.

Most relevant programs which aren’t yet available on Windows Store
Pinterest: Even though on Windows Store we have third party apps that offer access to this social media network, the official Pinterest client isn’t officially released for Windows 8, Windows 8.1 or Windows RT users.
Google Calendar: In order to organize and schedule your daily activity you need to use a dedicated calendar app. While Google Calendar is the most popular app in that matter, on Windows Store you can’t find it, though there are several third party tools related to the same.
Pandora: This Internet Radio service has been recently made available for Windows Phone 8 devices, but the app is still messing for Windows 8 and Windows RT based tablets and desktops.
HBO GO: Unfortunately, if you own a Windows 8 based device you will not be able to watch your favorite movies from HBO, as HBO GO is still unavailable on Windows Store (you can stream HBO from your browser but you will not get a mobile-optimized interface) – instead you can use Hulu Plus.
Pocket: If you want to get in touch with everything that’s new by using Pocket, a dedicated app in that matter, you will not be able to do so, as the tool is still unavailable on Windows Store.
Spotify: Similar with Pandora, Spotify is available for Windows Phone 8 handsets, but no for Windows 8 and Windows RT tablets and desktops.
Instagram: As you might have noticed, the official Instagram client isn’t released on Windows Store, though you can any time use other dedicated third party tools.
Google Drive, Google Maps or YouTube: Google will not release dedicated Windows 8 apps for its own services, so Google Drive, Google Maps and even YouTube can’t be downloaded from Windows Store.
These are only few apps that are available on Google Play or Apple Store but not on Windows Store. Nowadays, we have around 150,000 apps released on Microsoft’s market, though we can’t even compare this number with the apps that are available on Google: more than one million. Anyway, let’s hope that more and more devs will develop new apps for the Windows 8 system, so that in the future this gap will be erased.

Airplay For Windows: 8 Best Airplay Alternatives To Mirror Screen In Windows 10
The Apple ecosystem is known for a seamless experience. And, AirPlay (along with iMessage and AirDrop) has long been a popular component of Apple’s highly impressive ecosystem. For those unfamiliar, it is designed for wirelessly streaming content like photos, videos, and music from iDevices like iPhone, iPad, and Mac to Apple TV as well as compatible smart TVs and speakers. With the arrival of AirPlay 2, iDevice users can play audio to multiple speakers in perfect sync and also individually control the speakers. Unfortunately, Microsoft Windows lacks a feature that can compete with Apple’s wireless streaming protocol. And that’s exactly what has led me to explore the best AirPlay alternatives to mirror screen in Windows 10.
Best AirPlay Alternatives for Windows 10Before exploring the apps, be sure to check out a few pivotal points as they can play a big role in helping you choose the right app that can ideally live up to your task:
Which AirPlay Alternatives Can Suit Your Needs Better? There are many screen-mirroring apps in the market. While some apps excel in streaming content from a mobile device to a Windows computer, others work spotlessly in beaming content from PC to modern devices like Apple TV, Chromecast, PS4, etc. And then, there are the ones that go well beyond the basic features. To ensure you can find the right answer to your needs, I have included all of them. As to which app can be perfect for your requirements, it all comes down to what you are looking for and how much you can spend. That all being said, let’s find out what these top AirPlay alternatives have in store, shall we?
Best AirPlay Alternatives to Stream Content to Windows PC 1. ApowerMirrorAside from seamless screen mirroring from your mobile device to PC, the software has got some pretty cool features for Android users. For instance, you can use this tool to control your Android device from a computer using a mouse and keyboard. If you are a gaming aficionado, you can get the most out of this feature to play your favorite Android games on your Windows 10 PC.
Unlike AirPlay, ApowerMirror can also allow you to record your phone screen and even capture screenshots. As for price, ApowerMirror comes for free. But the freemium version is quite limited in functionality and you will need to go for the pro version to unlock all the goodies.
Pricing: Free, premium version is available for $12.95/month
2. AirServerWhen it comes to mirroring screens across devices with the maximum efficiency, AirServer is the one you can fully trust to stand up to your pro demand. The app makes the best use of Miracast/Wi-Di technology to stream high-quality content. As it also supports AirPlay and Miracast-enabled Android devices, you will be able to mirror your device screens across multiple platforms, unlike Apple’s wireless streaming protocol that’s quite limited.
Today, many new Windows PCs come with support for Miracast. Hence, this software can let you mirror screens between PCs as well. Another feature that has caught my eyes in this software is that it can allow you to stream multiple devices to your receiver. Therefore, you can monitor multiple screens without having to switch between devices.
If you are a gamer, you would really appreciate the functionality to not only stream the game from your mobile device but also record your action for sharing with your friends or followers. Talking about price, AirServer is a bit more expensive $40 than most of its counterparts. But if you want a versatile screen mirroring receiver, you can’t go wrong with it.

3. MobizenThough not as powerful as some of the notable names mentioned in this article, “Mobizen” is a good mirroring software. With the help of it, you can easily stream your photos and videos to your Windows PC. Apart from allowing you to mirror your device screen, it also lets you transfer files between your computer and mobile device. Therefore, it can safely claim to be a fine alternative to not only AirPlay but also AirDrop.
You can use the mouse and keyboard of your computer to take control of your mobile device. Times when you are busy working on your computer, you will find it really convenient to receive your entire phone notifications right on your computer. Better yet, Mobizen is also very handy at screen recording and instant messaging.
Pricing: $2.99/month
Best AirPlay Alternatives to Stream Content from Windows PC 1. Reflector 3In terms of functionality, “Reflector 3” is probably the most versatile AirPlay alternative for Windows. The software excels in mirroring phone, tablet, and even PC to the big screen – pretty much like AirPlay. So, whether you want to stream music from your mobile device to your Windows computer or mirror videos from your PC to your TV, this app can live up to your billing without any problem.
Reflector 3 boasts an impressive user-interface, ensuring you can comfortably master it without going through a lengthy learning curve. One of my favorite features of this software is the ability to mirror multiple screens of any types simultaneously. This feature could come in really handy when playing top-notch multiplayer games.
Not to mention, the live streaming feature that can let you share your screen activity on YouTube. As a YouTuber, you would like to have this app to become more interactive. Though I’m really pleased with this software, I would appreciate it more had the app been for free without limited trial.

2. Squirrels AirParrot 2Developed by the same company as Reflector (mentioned above), AirParrot is equally impressive. You can use this software to wirelessly stream media files or your device’s screen to a wide range of media receivers. The app makes the most of Quick Connect technology to instantly connect a device running Reflector. Therefore, you can conveniently beam audio, video, screen, presentation and more to a number of media receivers at one go. Without mincing my words, I would say that AirParrot is far superior to AirPlay in this aspect.
To me, the biggest highlight of AirParrot is the ability to stream media files in 5.1 surround sound and without any loss of quality. It’s this quality that has made it a firm favorite for those who love to enjoy high-quality sound.
Pricing: Free trial of 7 days, the premium version comes at $12.99
Visit: Website
3. AirflowThe thing that makes AirPlay stand out is the ability to mirror videos spotlessly without any quality loss. Should you want an app to deliver the best video mirroring or be very close to what Apple’s wireless streaming service has to offer, Airflow has to be your top bet. It has got all the qualities to compete with Apple’s wireless streaming protocol – as far as wireless video streaming is concerned.
Besides, it also has the support for 5.1 audio support (surround sound) and DVD and Bluray subtitles. Additionally, you can organize your video files into playlists so that they remain in the right order and are easily accessible.
Pricing: $18.99
Visit: Website
4. iTunesIf you are looking for an AirPlay alternative just to stream audio from your Windows PC, look no further than Apple’s iTunes. The software comes with basic AirPlay audio streaming and works efficiently in streaming music from PC. More significantly, it’s available for completely free and quite easy to get started.
Pricing: Free

5. TubecastThis one is a must for YouTubers! Should you want a YouTube-based app for Windows 10 to cast your videos on most devices like Apple TV, smart TVs, Roku, XBox 360, XBox One, PS4, Amazon Fire TV, DLNA and Chromecast, Tubecast would be worth taking a close look. Moreover, you can also use this software to download your YouTube videos and even play the sound of the videos under lock.
Keep in mind, it doesn’t have a standalone screen mirroring feature and is specifically designed for casting YouTube videos to many devices. Besides, the app is available for a free trial of just 7 days. After that, you will have to buy the premium version (around $1) to continue.
Though not an ideal AirPlay alternative, Tubecast could prove to be a game-changer, if you are on the hunt for an app that can let you cast YouTube videos.
Pricing: Free-trial of 7 days, the premium version is available for around $1
Download Tubecast from Microsoft Store

How To Transform Windows 7 Or 8 Into Windows 10
Windows 10 is just around the corner, and the new version not only packs some of the best and most interesting features, it is also visually appealing. In fact, it is much better than Windows 8 or 8.1 with revamped start menu, upgraded notification center, updated icon sets, etc.
As most of you know, Windows 10 is free for all the genuine Windows 7 and 8 users as long as you upgrade within one year from the launch date (July 29th). But if you are happy with your current Windows machine and don’t want to upgrade, here is how you can easily transform your Windows machine into Windows 10.
Note:
1. Even though I’m showing this in Windows 8.1, the procedure is similar for Windows 7.
2. The transformation can be applied to Windows Professional and Enterprise versions only. And make sure that you have .NET versions 2, 4 and 4.5 installed as the program we are going to use requires those.
Create a Restore PointIn the process of transforming Windows 7 or 8 into Windows 10, some of the important system files will be modified. As a precaution, it is always a good idea to create a system restore point so that you can easily revert back if anything bad happens.
To create a system restore point, press “Win + X” and select the “System” option. If you are using Windows 7, search for it in the Start menu.
In case you are wondering, here is what system restore can and cannot do in Windows.
Transform Windows 7 or 8 Into Windows 10Transforming Windows 7 or 8 into Windows 10 is easier than you think. To start, download the Windows 10 transformation pack from ThemeMyPC.
The good thing about the software is that it comes with:
All the relevant icons, images, fonts, cursors, and sounds
Auto repair and update feature
Virtual desktops just like in Windows 10 (Sys Internals application)
Redesigned Start Menu and a search bar like in Windows 10
Once you’ve downloaded the required file, open it and execute the “Windows 10 Transformation Pack.exe” application.
The installation is straightforward; you don’t have to do anything. Once the installation has been completed, restart your system so that the changes will take effect.
You’ve successfully transformed your Windows machine into Windows 10.
Of course, there is no Cortana and the Start menu may not resemble the real Windows 10 start menu, but the app is free, and the developers are pushing updates regularly.
