Suggested January 2024 Safe Alarm 3 Adds Powerful Features To Your Iphone Alarm
So many people rely on alarms from their smartphone to wake up in the morning that when a major new jailbreak tweak comes out that improves the stock alarm system on the iPhone, it’s a big deal.
Safe Alarm 3 by Douglas Soares is a noteworthy release in Cydia that expands upon the alarm system in iOS by giving you a trough of new options to configure, including new ways to be woken up.
Smart Alarm has been changing the way jailbreakers customize their alarms for over two years, but it gets better with each release. This tweak includes per-alarm settings that you can apply to individual alarms, or all-inclusive alarm settings that you can apply to all alarms as a whole.A better way to create alarms
After installation, a new set of options are tacked onto the usual at the bottom of the alarm creation interface. These are the per-alarm settings we mentioned earlier:
With far more options than the stock setup, Smart Alarm 3 lets you do all of the following things that the stock settings don’t:
Choose the individual days of the week that the alarm goes off
Use alert tones and playlists for alarms in addition to ringtones and songs
Choose a custom snooze duration
Choose a custom volume level for the alarm
Choose a fade-in duration for the alarm
Vibrate on both ring and silent
Choose when the alarm gets automatically dismissed
Configure a calculator so you’re forced to solve math to dismiss the alarm
These options are great, especially the one that lets you choose a custom volume level, because how many times have you accidentally changed your volume level or left your iPhone on silent mode when your alarm was supposed to be going off? Oops!
Forcing yourself to solve a math problem is also great, because it ensures you’re actually awake at the time you acknowledge the alarm. In addition, being able to choose a custom snooze duration is something users have been asking Apple to implement for ages, and since they haven’t answered the requests, Smart Alarm 3 does!
Besides the per-alarm options, you’ll find a bevy more options in the Safe Alarm 3 preferences pane in the Settings app:
Here, you are going to find options for:
What happens when you press the sleep button during an alarm
What happens when you press a volume button during an alarm
What happens when you press the Home button during an alarm
Disable automatic locking when an alarm is going off
Configure the screen to flash colors when the alarm is going off
Switch between light and dark mode in the Clock app
Enable tapping on alarms to edit them instead of the usual convoluted process
Allow mass-editing of alarms at one time
Enable a button to toggle all alarms on or off at once
Open the Alarms tab of the Clock app from Control Center’s shortcut
And configure various other general settings…
With these options, you’ll find some incredible new ways to interact with your alarm. Being able to choose what each button on the device does during an alarm execution is critical for those who like using certain buttons more than others, and the ability to make the screen flash colors as an alarm goes off can be an essential part of the wake-up process for those hard at hearing.
Here’s an example of what the screen flash looks like:
Besides those praises, the UI and aesthetic improvements to the Clock app are also noteworthy. The option to toggle the lighter UI in the Clock app might be better for some with vision issues, having the option to make alarm editing easier saves a bunch of time, and using the Control Center shortcut to get you to the Alarms tab makes accessing your alarms oodles easier.
Now to get on to the last four cells in the preferences pane…
This preferences pane lets you choose how the alarm notification behaves. You will find options for:
Showing buttons for interacting with the notification when on the Home screen
Showing or hiding the background blue when on the Home screen
Invert the Snooze/Stop buttons when on the Lock screen
Time Until Alarm
This preferences pane gives you options for seeing how much longer you have until an alarm goes off. You’ll find settings for:
Within the Clock app
Toggling the feature on or off
Hiding the information from inactive alarms
Choosing the font size
Choosing the time format
Choosing the position for the information
On the Lock screen
Toggling the feature on or off
Choosing the font size
Choosing the time format
Choosing the position for the information
Choosing rules for hiding the information
Choose what information is displayed
Because the tweak ties in with Activator, you can assign gestures to all of the following options:
Turn off all alarms
Turn on all alarms
Toggle light or dark mode in the Clock app
Anything you set here gets applied to all new alarms you make going forward by default. The options here are just about the same as those that you’ll find in the per-alarm settings we showed you at the beginning of this post.
Because we already went over those earlier, there’s no sense in repeating ourselves with the available options…Wrapping up
Safe Alarm 3 was designed with the everyday alarm user in mind. The added customization features allow you to power through the alarm schedule creation process and do more to ensure you wake up.
Because I’m one of many who have a problem with the lack of customization iOS’ alarm system has to offer, I have to give Safe Alarm 3 a thumbs-up.
A tweak worthy of praise, Safe Alarm 3 is available for $1.99 in Cydia’s BigBoss repository and can be had for a discounted price of $0.99 if you own any previous versions already. The tweak is intended for iOS 10 devices, so if you’re jailbroken on iOS 9, you may want to check out Safe Alarm (iOS 9) instead.

If you often tried to schedule Sticky Notes but failed, then this tool called Alarm Stickies can help you. It helps you create and set reminders for your sticky notes on your Windows desktop so that you can get a notification at a predefined time.Alarm Stickies for Windows PC
You can set alarm reminders on Windows 10 PC using Alarm Stickies. Once the time is reached, the sticky automatically jumps in the center of the screen. Sometimes we forget to remember important things, and the in-built app, Sticky Notes, helps. However, it doesn’t come with a “schedule” functionality. You can use the Alarm Stickies tool on your PC to get the job done.
Apart from that, this tool offers the following features-
Notification with sound: When some apps notify users from Action Center, Alarm Stickies plays music so that users get the reminder loud and clear. However, it is not possible to choose a custom sound.
Schedule multiple notes: Even if you want to schedule numerous sticky notes, you can do that with the help of this software.
Quarterly calendar: It allows users to check all the reminders from the past and future 12 months.
Set a recurring reminder: If you want to get a notification multiple times, you can set a recurring reminder.
Notes management: It has a panel, which shows all the reminders in one place so that you can modify or delete them as per your requirements. A similar thing is also available to check all the old notes.
There are other features of this tool. However, you need to use it to know about them all.Use Alarm Stickies to create and set reminders
To get started, you need to download and install Alarm Stickies on your Windows computer. It is compatible with Windows 10/8/7. After installing and opening this app on your PC, you can find a panel like this-
Here you can write down your note. To schedule the note or set a reminder, press the F8 button. Now you should see another window like this-
It saves all the changes automatically.
Once you set the date and time, you can find it in the List of stickies with alert window. The same panel helps you manage all the reminders and notes from one place.
Alternatively, you can press Ctrl+A to open the same window. After opening, you can find your notes like this-
If you have multiple computers in the same network and you want to synchronize all the notes and reminders across multiple PCs, you need to create a shared folder and set it as the data and backup folder. For that, open up the Set data and backup folders option and select the shared folder.
This software also has some keyboard shortcuts so that users can perform various jobs quickly. In case you want to find all the shortcuts or modify them as per your needs, you should select the Set the Shortcuts option.
From here, you can manage, edit, or change the keyboard shortcut.
If you like Alarm Stickies, you can download it from the official website.
TIP: You can also password protect Notes using some of these free Sticky Notes software.
It’s no secret that you can make your computer “sleep” to considerably save energy or battery on laptops. A battery-powered device can spend many days in standby mode. The power draw in this state is incredibly low.
You can wake your computer at any time by pressing the power button or a key on your keyboard. But what if you want it to automatically wake up at a certain time? This can help you automate certain tasks – for example, to download something at 4AM when Internet speed may be much higher. With a bit of command-line magic, you can schedule your device to wake up, take some action and then go back to sleep again.
Besides waking up from standby, you may find it even more useful to completely shut down your computer and power on at certain times. Hibernation is also supported, but Linux systems that use proprietary drivers don’t always wake from hibernation properly.Test If Your Computer Supports Wake-Up Timers
It’s possible that some computers don’t have the proper hardware to support this feature. However, on most configurations, this should work. You can do a quick test: open a terminal emulator and enter the following command.
Your computer should go to sleep and wake up thirty seconds later. If your device needs more than twenty seconds for standby, increase the wake-up time by changing “30” to a higher number.
Also, test if the computer supports waking up from a complete shutdown.
Regarding -m off, the command manual mentions: “Not officially supported by ACPI, but it usually works.”
If the kernel, drivers and hardware all get along with each other, you should have no problems. If the timers aren’t supported, it’s probably because the hardware and/or BIOS/UEFI configurations don’t meet the requirements. But you might as well try your luck and see if upgrading some drivers or switching from proprietary ones to open source does the trick. You can also try to install a newer kernel.
As previously mentioned, hibernation has issues non-related to the rtcwake command. It does work most of the time but also fails on occasion. When it fails, your screen will remain black or show you an error message. How to Use the rtcwake Command
The basic use of the command is simple: pick a power-saving method and a time when to wake up. In the previous command the -s parameter was used to specify how many seconds to wait before powering back on. But usually you will want to specify an absolute time, like 9AM tomorrow morning. For that, you use the --date parameter instead of -s.rtcwake Date Parameter
Note: not all hardware supports setting wake up dates far into the future. This is something that you’ll just have to test to see if it works for your specific device.
Time specification is in 24-hour format. Here’s a relevant screenshot of the command manual with different options for setting the time and date of a wake-up event.
“YYYY-MM-DD hh:mm” means, year, month, day, hour and minute – for example: --date 2023-02-28 15:00 for the 28th of February, year 2023, 3PM.rtcwake Dry Run
You can add another parameter to rtcwake, -n, to display when the alarm will be set.
This is a “dry run,” meaning it doesn’t actually set an alarm and only “pretends” to do it. It’s useful to add -n when you want to test if your date specification is correct. Once you’re sure it’s right, just use the command without -n to set the actual wake-up time.rtcwake Power-Saving Methods
The relevant options you can pass to the -m parameter are:
-m mem – normal standby mode you’re familiar with from the shutdown menu.
-m disk – hibernate mode that saves memory content to storage device. Not recommended when using proprietary drivers.
-m off – normal shutdown.
-m disable – cancel a wake-up event you previously set.
-m no – don’t power off or standby, just set a wake event. For example, you can set a wake-up time for tomorrow morning, then continue to work on your computer. When you’re done, shut down normally, and the device will automatically power on in the morning.
-m show – show wake-up events (previously-set alarms) currently active.Conclusion
It’s up to you to find creative ways to use rtcwake. As a starter, this can help you find the computer fully booted in the morning. This way you skip the boring boot process which can take more than a minute on some systems. You could also install an utility, such as at, to automate tasks that your computer can run after waking up. We might even explore that option in a future tutorial.

It only makes sense to start an SEO project by finding the exact keywords related to the products or services you offer.
After all, unless you discover what phrases your specific audience uses in search, you might end up optimizing the site for the wrong keywords.
But here’s the catch: most of those phrases are already highly competitive, with thousands of domains trying to rank for them in the search results.
If you run a small or newer website, breaking through the competition might prove too challenging.
In this post, I’ll show you three lesser-used ways to reach beyond your top industry’s keywords to expand your organic reach and increase the search traffic.#1. Identify Semantically Related Keywords
Although the idea of semantic search has been around for quite a while, not many businesses focus on finding semantically related keywords.
And yet, semantic keywords offer a compelling opportunity for reaching a wider audience and expanding the search visibility.
To fully understand how to use them, though, we need to discuss semantic search first. So, What is Semantic Search?
“In short, the purpose of semantic search is to go beyond the ‘static’ dictionary meaning of a word or phrase to understand the intent of a searcher’s query within a specific context.”
Take the word “apple”, for example. Someone typing it into a search box might be looking for one of the three things:
The electronics company, the makers of iPhone, iPad, and bunch of other stuff
A record label once owned by the Beatles
(Not a surprising search result, given my fondness for certain laptops and portable devices ☺)
Using the searcher’s past search history, location, the context of the query, and other data, search engines today can be more precise in their results.
Of course, there’s much more to semantic search than this. And if you’re interested in finding out more, I recommend you read these guides:But What about Semantic Keywords, Then?
Since semantic search looks for the meaning behind a search phrase, it needs terms and phrases closely related to your main keyword that help communicate that meaning.
And that’s the role of semantic keywords, to provide that meaning and help the search engine understand what your content is about.
Using our example above, we already know that the word “apple” might refer to at least three separate things: a fruit, a technology company, or a record label.
So, how does a search engine knows which one your page relates?
You guessed it, by analyzing semantic keywords.
For example, it knows that if you wrote about fruit, your content could include phrases like delicious, grown, trees, cultivars, and much more.
For a technology company, you’d probably include words and phrases like iPhone, iPad, Cupertino, Steve Jobs, innovation, etc.
And that’s where your opportunity to expand the keywords list comes in.
By finding and enriching your content with semantic keywords, you can make it more relevant to specific searches, increase the number of phrases your page could rank for, and position it for a more relevant traffic. How to Find Semantic Keywords
The process is quite simple. Nick Stoyanov lists four main ways to do it:
Use Google’s instant search
“Searches related to” results
Bold words in SERP results
Keyword research tools
I recommend you read his full guide to finding LSI keywords to discover in detail how each of these methods work.#2. Target Your Competitors’ Branded Keywords
Each day, customers look for your competitors’ brands and products online. They type their brand or product name into the search box, eager to learn more about them or even buy their products.
That is exactly the traffic you’d want to attract to your site!
After all, these people are already seeking the products or services you sell. Granted, they are looking for your competition, but that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t buy from you, provided they learn about you, right?
And that’s the premise behind the second strategy I want to talk about – using your competitors’ branded keywords.
Unlike the semantic keywords method, this one’s a little bit trickier.
Still, they offer a chance to expand your visibility and reach a new, but relevant, audience with almost no effort.
This strategy could also lead to some unpleasant situations, problems with law and legislation, and will immediately put you on the competitors’ radar.
After all, as Evan Cummins says in this article on Wordstream:
“One serious downside to bidding on a competitor’s brand name is that you are basically starting a war. You are openly inviting your competition to bid on your brand name and start poaching some of your potential sales.”
So tread carefully, pick competitors whose brands you want to target wisely, and never cross the line.#3. Use Trending Words and Hot Topics
Finally, you could also target widely discussed topics in your industry to find relevant keywords with less competition to drive more traffic.
Every so often your target audience gets excited about a new hot topic, idea, or a trend.
And they may spend crazy amounts of time searching for information about those topics.
By knowing what’s hot in your industry right now, you can quickly create content targeting those keywords and position your site for new, relevant phrases.
And the best part is, finding those trending topics isn’t difficult.
Many dedicated tools allow you to monitor industries for trends and topics. For example, Ruzzit helps you scout the web for keywords to find the most popular content.
Reddit, and particularly subreddits relevant to your industry, can deliver great insight into what’s hot for your audience.
Wikipedia Trends and Google Trends allow analyzing the change in particular topic’s popularity.
And monitoring Google News can help you spot any recent developments before other websites catch on them.
By using these techniques and combining them with your traditional keyword research, you’ll earn more traffic to your website and introduce your company to a brand new audience.
What other less- common strategies do you use to increase your online visibility and gain new visitors?

Google Analytics has announced their new feature for Predictive Audiences and Predictive Metrics. These are part of their Beta for App + Web properties, and not available in regular Analytics situations.Predictive Audiences
Located within the Audience Builder, users will now see new audiences, based off two audience types: likely buyers and likely churning purchasers.
These spawn specifications for things like “Likely first-time 7-day purchasers” or “Likely 7-day churning purchasers.”
This new audience feels a lot like Facebook’s conversion goal, which similarly targets users’ likely behavior.
Like other Google Analytics audiences, linked Ads and Analytics accounts will be able to import these audiences for bidding and targeting.Predictive Metrics
Also launching are predictive metrics, which can help you analyze data in ways that may better help you shape your marketing campaigns in the future.
Located within the Analysis module, its aim is to show you things like which marketing campaign gave you users with the highest purchase probability. In other words, what are the things contributing to building those Predictive Audiences.Requirements for Predictive Metrics:
Equal populations for users who bought and users who did not. The minimum size is 1,000 users in each bucket.
Sustained audience quality over a period of time, versus a situation that fluctuates wildly.
The metrics for each model will be generated by user, once time per day. If the model quality doesn’t meet the above, the predictions will become unavailable. Why This is Notable
One of the divides that media buyers account for as they run on multiple platforms is how “ready” the users are to buy.
In a medium like search, the user is giving indicators as to where they are on their buying path. Are they researching? Are they close to buying? While some searches can reveal that, in many cases, there are search phrases that don’t really say either way.
The fact the user is searching means they are at some level of awareness, though.
You tell Facebook what type of action you’re looking for, who you’re targeting, and off it goes to drive as many of those actions as possible.
Google has become much more robust over the years with its targeting, giving search marketers the ability to go beyond just keywords and actually layer in things like interests. This provided additional insights and control for media managers who want to bid more specifically on different user personas.
“You can use these metrics to help drive growth for your business by reaching the people most likely to purchase and retaining the people who might not return to your app or site via Google Ads.” – Steve Ganem, Sr Product Manager, Google Analytics
This addition will help media buyers perhaps not feel so reliant on Facebook to deliver this type of targeting in the future. With skyrockets ad costs and longer purchase cycles, this will provide an interesting test for marketers looking to test their ad dollars elsewhere.
Google’s announcement is here, and they also provide step-by-steps for audience creation, predictive metrics creation, and information for signing up on the App + Web property beta.
