Suggested January 2024 Removing Samsung’s Default Android Apps
Pre-installed apps on Android smartphones—not excluding Samsung smartphones—sometimes can be pretty annoying. They don’t provide much utility for you and they take up storage space. The slang term for these kinds of apps is bloatware; unnecessary pre-installed features that use up too much memory and RAM.
These pre-installed apps can furthermore make your phone’s battery dry out faster. Not to mention that they will take your data allowance for updates and such. So, how do you deal with this nuisance?
Generally, two means are applicable so you can go about ditching your apps: the easy and risk-free way or the more radical, more effective way but a risky one. Let’s take a look at the easy one first.Disable Samsung’s Preinstalled Apps.
The following method is geared towards Samsung’s smartphones. Other phone brands can still follow the same guideline.
Open the App Drawer
Hold-press any app that you want to disable then tap disable when the window pop up (the option to uninstall usually available for downloaded apps but not for the pre-installed ones).
This way, the disabled apps will not run in the background anymore, freeing up some RAM space. The apps are not really ‘disappear’ from your phone, they are still installed in your memory. Should anything happen that might disrupt your system, you can choose to enable the apps once again.
If you want to make all the bloatware completely gone, follow these procedures. Note that this approach can void your warranty and harm your phone system if done incorrectly. Proceed with caution.Root your smartphone.
Rooting gives you full access to the entire files in your smartphone system. This is necessary if you want to delete any pre-installed apps. If a user chooses to root their phone, this means that their user-privilege is escalated, making them able to edit any files, even possibly delete very important system files by accident. This is why smartphones are not rooted by default.
Phone manufacturers won’t fix any damage to a rooted smartphone even if it’s still under warranty since it’s the user’s fault, not them. They often threaten to void warranties to any user dare to root their phone.
Root your phone only if you know what you are doing. If you still want to and can take responsibility for your action, go ahead and follow this step.
Launch the app and start the rooting.
Wait until the result screen tells you if the rooting is succeeded or failed.
Once you have rooted your phone, we can move on to the next process.Remove pre-installed apps using System App Remover
System App Remover is one of the best Uninstaller apps. This free app menu presents a list of apps—whether downloaded or pre-installed—that you can safely remove from your system without necessarily harming it. This feature is pretty useful especially for those not familiar with Android systems.
Download and launch the app.
Give it root permission for System App Remover to be able to delete your pre-installed app.
Go ahead and uninstall any desired app. System App Remover provides automatic backup in case you incidentally remove something.
There are other apps that you can use such as Titanium Backup that also offers many features.

The best football apps and NFL apps for Android
Price: Free / $9.99 per month / $59.99 per year
The Athletic is an up-and-coming news publication for sports fans. It covers the major sports, including the NFL, NHL, MLB, NBA, and some college sports. Each sport has its own cast of writers and an overall cast of 400 writers. The app gives you plenty of analysis and opinion pieces along with things like fantasy sports help, box scores, highlights, and more. The only downside is that it’s a premium-only news source and the app still needs a little bit of work. Those who don’t want to fork out the money can try something like ESPN, theScore, or Yahoo Sports.

There are a ton of NFL and football news sites. Most of them have dedicated apps with a ton of extra features. Feedly helps simplify the experience. It’s an RSS news app. You can add all of the football blogs and sites you enjoy. The app provides a single feed for all of those sites. It can’t do stuff like schedules, live scores, or anything like that. However, it’s probably the best way to get news from everywhere without downloading a bunch of apps for each website. Plus, Feedly is free and cross-platform. It also works with iOS devices.NFL Mobile

theScore is a decent sports news app. It offers up news on a variety of sports, including the NFL and NCAA football. It shows the usual stuff, including scores, stats, schedules, lineups, and news. You can also customize the experience with your favorite teams and/or sports. It’s a solid source of news. The app’s UI is in the middle of a revamp at the time of this writing. Some people like it while others don’t. The app is entirely free, though.

Price: Free / Up to $2.99
SofaScore is a sports scores app and one of the best. It covers sports from all over the world, including hockey, soccer, football, and many more. The app even covers niche stuff like rugby, volleyball, and others. It’s a fairly simple app. You pick the sports you want to keep track of and the app does the rest. You check scores and schedules as needed. This is an excellent football app for fans that also like other sports. It’s also relatively cheap, easy to use, and it even looks nice.Twitter
Twitter can be a horrible place. However, if you can avoid the terrible parts, it’s a great way to check the news. Most NFL teams, NCAA teams, and sports writer personalities have Twitter accounts. You can follow them to get up-to-the-minute scores, news, and updates. There are hundreds of Twitter profiles that deal almost exclusively with sports. You follow them and you’ll see what happens in football before the 11 o’clock news. It’s about the only social network worth using for football and NFL news. Twitter’s network is full of idiots, but almost all of the major football personalities are there. It’s one of the better NFL apps.

Yahoo Sports is among the largest NFL and football news sources out there. It has all of the stuff you’d expect. That includes lineups, stats, schedules, news, scores, trades, rumors, and more. Yahoo also has one of the best fantasy football options, but that does require a different app. Yahoo Sports streamed the Super Bowl in 2023. We don’t know if it will in 2023 also. However, it should be an above-average experience for football even without it. Plus, it works well for other sports too.
In this article, we ask what are the symptoms of a MacItNow “infection” and how can you remove this despicable and sneaky sales tool from your computer.Foot in the Door
But worse than having inserted itself into your system, it can also be a convenient pipe for other types of spyware into your machine. Besides, it is incredibly annoying.Symptoms and Causes
MacItNow commonly gets into your machine via “downloaders” or other “helpful” programs which seem to do nothing except assist you to download files. Of course, they are doing something else too.
Websites use adware like MacItNow to monetise their sites, so the bottom line is to be very careful what you agree to download. That said, adware happens even if your browsing is pure. A good policy is that when installing software (and you are unsure of how safe it is) to choose Custom or Advanced install options so you can check any additional bundles being sneaked in.
A well regarded remover is Bitdefender Adware Removal Tool for Mac. This is a good standard tool (and free!) which is easy to download and install and covers you for the basic threats.Removing MacItNow
So the first thing to try is removing the threats automatically if you can without having to load and reconfigure every browser on your machine. Install Bitdefender Adware Remover and start it.
The software will now scan your browsers for errant extensions and delete them. It will announce when it’s finished.Lastly Nuke it from Orbit (only way to be sure)
If that first step was unsuccessful, then you have to go deeper. The final step is to remove MacItNow extensions from your browser manually.
On all browsers: Check for an application called “MacItNow” and delete it. Obviously they are starting to rename the app as it’s too easy to find, but look in your apps directory for any suspicious apps. Do a little research on Google to confirm you’ve found a bad guy before you wipe an app you actually need.
If you want to prevent any extensions being installed at all, move the Extensions On/Off slider to Off.
Disable and Delete any suspicious extensions.
Disable and Delete any suspicious extensions.
Once you’ve done that, make sure you check regularly for adware even before you get any alarming or annoying symptoms.

Homify is one of the newer home design apps. It is a source of ideas for home improvement projects. The app boasts a library of over 1.5 million photos of various interior and architectural designs. You can save your favorites, see the latest trends in home design, and more. The app can even recommend home decorators, interior designers, or other professionals to do the work for you. You can save stuff for future reference as well. The app is completely free to download with no in-app purchases.

Everybody knows IKEA. They have a bunch of basic stuff for not a lot of money. They have stores everywhere. Their app is kind of an extension of that. You can view their inventory, shop for stuff, keep a wishlist, and more. It can also store your loyalty card for quick access, find nearby stores, and find stuff faster in-store. Unfortunately, their app experience isn’t great. We might recommend that you use the mobile site or visit a location if you can. The app works for some, but it’s still rather buggy. IKEA also has an augmented reality app for fitting furniture in your room as well. It’s new, but it works okay.

You can then populate it with furniture, decorative items, and other stuff. It includes support for offline use, syncing between devices, a catalog of textures and items, and more. It can get rather expensive. However, you pretty much have to be a full-blown professional to need everything the app offers. It’s a good place to start.

Google Maps is a good way to find stuff in your area. Angie’s List, HomeAdvisor (linked), and many others find professionals that do various things. Every Android device comes with certain apps that are responsible for its core functions. Termed as system apps, these bind with the OS and cannot be uninstalled unless you have a rooted device. On the other hand, the apps that you download from the Play Store can be easily uninstalled and do not enjoy system privileges, like the system apps. However, there are some apps, like a file manager or a camera app that you don’t want to be uninstalled or erased even when you format your Android device. Well, if your device is rooted, you are in luck, as you can easily convert those third-party apps into system apps. Well, here are the steps to convert a user app to a system app:Requirements
A rooted Android device
File Manager app that allows you to access root filesConvert user app to a system app
1. There are several good file managers available on the Play Store that allow easy access to root files. However, we are using the ES File Explorer (Free).
2. Firstly, open ES File Explorer and swipe from the left to open the navigation drawer and enable the “Root Explorer” option. You might get a prompt from the SuperUser app to grant root access to the app.
4. Inside the “/“ aka the device folder, head to the “data” and then the “app” folder to access the all the installed apps. Here, you will find the data folders of all the third-party apps listed together. Now, long press on the folder of the app that you want to convert as system app and select the “cut” option.
For instance, we have chosen the Facebook Lite app to be converted into a system app. So, in this case, the folder that we will be copying is com.facebook.lite-1.
6. After your selected app has been copied into the system app folder, you will have to grant certain access permissions to the folder. For that, you have to long press on the app folder and open its “Properties“. Then, tap on the “Change” button next to the “Permissions” option. Here, you have to allow Read, Write and Execute permissions.
7. There’s also an APK file of your selected app inside the folder that you just copied. Like the folder, you need to allow certain permissions to the APK file. For that, you have to open the app folder and open the “Properties” of the APK file by long pressing on it. Then, enable all the checkboxes for the Read, Write and Execute permissions as shown in the second screenshot below.

So, by following these steps, you will be able to convert your favorite app or game from the Play Store into a system app. You can also do this for the apps downloaded from third-party sources. However, we would strictly ask you to refrain from doing so, as they might be malicious and may cause harm to your device.
