The Default Gateway Is Not Available

In the middle of your important work you may get stuck in this annoying problem when the default gateway is not available, and you cannot access the internet.

You can also resolve find a fix with the help of Command Prompt or as always you can check whether your antivirus has anything to do with the issue.

Whatever the reason may be, through this article let us explore some feasible ways to find a solution to the problem.

Making some changes in the power management settings of the network adapter you can get an answer to the problem.

To execute the process, here I am providing you an in-depth guide. Follow the steps:

Step 1: Hold the Windows Key and press X and open the Power User Menu. Then go to the Device Manager and open it.

Step 3: Next from the displayed window, move on to the Power Management and proceed to uncheck Allow The Computer To Turn Off This Device To Save Power.

Step 4: After you have finished doing as per stated above, hit the OK button to save the changes.

When you encounter the default gateway not available error, check whether you have installed the latest available Ethernet Driver.

The outdated Driver may raise various issues along with this problem. For this visit the website of the manufacturer and check the latest available one for your Device.

Step 1: Select Windows Key and press S to get into the Control Panel. Then choose Power Options from the provided Menu.

Step 2: From the Power Options Window, check for your current plan. Next, choose Change Settings For The Plan.

Step 3: After that select Change Advanced Power Settings.

Step 4: Search and find the Wireless Adapter Settings and make sure you set it to the Maximum Performance.

Step 5: Finally hit the Apply button and press OK to save the changes.

Changing the wireless mode from 802.11 b/g to 802.11g may easily fix the problem with the default gateway is not available in windows 10.

Step 2: From there select Windows Security. Then select Firewall and Network Protection Option.

Step 3: Now, choose your network and turn off the Firewall protection. Disable the antivirus software temporarily.

The problem with the default gateway may get triggered by your outdated drivers and wrong network configuration. So just try the above remedies to find which solution helps to fix the problem.

Upgrade To Fios Quantum Gateway Router For Faster Lan Speeds

If you are a Verizon FIOS customer, like myself, your setup and router may be slowing down your LAN speeds significantly. So what do I mean by LAN speed? Well, there is Internet speed and then there is LAN or Local Area Network speed.

Your Internet speed can easily be checked by visiting a site like chúng tôi and making sure the results match the speed you’re signed up for with FIOS. It’s worth noting that you should only perform a speed test using a computer connected via Ethernet cable since that will be the fastest.

In my home, I have 100/100 with FIOS and I easily get that Internet speed on my computers. The problem was not my Internet speed, buy my local transfer speeds on my home network. When trying to transfer some data between different computers on my network, the speed maxed out at around 11.5 MB/s. That’s megabytes per second.

For a 100 Mbps (that’s megabits per second) network, 11.5 MB/s is a very good speed. However, all of my equipment was gigabit enabled, meaning I should get closer to 1000 Mbps in transfer speeds. That means around 125 MB/s. So as you can see, my current speed of 11.5 is less than one tenth the maximum speed for gigabit Ethernet.

Cause of Slower Speed

So what exactly is causing me to get only a 100 Mbps transfer rate? Two reasons: coax cabling in my home and MoCA version. My house was pre-wired with coax cabling instead of Ethernet cabling and that makes a significant difference. You will never get the max LAN speed possible or anywhere close to it when using coax cabling.

However, even if you are stuck with coax, you can dramatically increase your speed by making sure all your devices are using MoCA 2.0 rather than MoCA 1.0 or 1.1. MoCA 1.0 maxes out at 12.5 MB/s and 1.1 maxes out at 21.875 MB/s. If this is confusing, make sure to read my previous post on understanding network transfer speeds.

So even though my router and computer had gigabit ports, the wiring in my house and the MoCA version on my router was causing the speed to max out at 12.5 MB/s. By default, Verizon installs the Actiontec MI424WR router for new customers, even though it’s not the best router they have.

This router is either red or black and grey like the image shown above. Overall, it’s a great router and will give you excellent Internet speeds all the way up to 100 Mbps up and 100 Mbps down. The downside is that it only supports MoCA 1.1 and therefore maxes out at 21.875 MB/s on your LAN network.

So why does this make a difference? Well, if you have your own media server at home, streaming movies from your computer or NAS to an HDTV or game console will be much slower and result in your videos pausing every couple of seconds. I also backup my computers to my NAS and the slower transfer speed increases the backup time by hours, which is unacceptable for me.

Fix Slow LAN Speed

So how can you go about fixing this problem? Well, the easiest way if you are forced to use coax cabling is to upgrade your router to the new Quantum Gateway router offered by Verizon. You can either rent it for $10 a month or buy it outright for $199.

The best way to get the Quantum Gateway router for free is to simply upgrade your Internet speed by one plan and they will usually give you the router for free. I was at 75/75 and upgraded to 100/100 and asked if they could throw in the router too for free, which they did.

If they tell you that increasing to that speed won’t qualify you, then just ask to be upgraded to something higher and then reduce your speed after they upgrade your router. For example, if you are at 25/25 and they say they can’t give you the new router if you upgrade to 50/50, just say you want to upgrade to 75/75. They will give you the new router for free and then you simply go online and reduce your speed to 50/50 two days later. A Verizon representative told me this trick!

If you can’t get the router that way, go to Amazon and you can get it for $142.50, saving you some money. You can also try on eBay and possibly score a better deal there. The one I got and the one pictured above is the G1100 gateway router.

Well, since my house is connected via coax everywhere, I had to buy some MoCA 2.0 adapters. The one I purchased was from Actiontec. It’s a MoCA 2.0 Coax to Ethernet adapter and it’s pretty expensive.

I connected this adapter to the coax in my wall and connected the Ethernet out to a switch, which was connected to all my other devices like computers, etc. So what kind of speed improvement did I see? Well, baseline MoCA 2.0 can give you speeds up to 400 Mbps, which translates into about 50 MB/s. In my own tests, the speed increased to about 54 MB/s. This was almost five times faster than my previous speed!

There is also an enhanced MoCA 2.0 speed, which gives you a throughput up to 800 Mbps, but it has to be a bonded coax connection. There is a bonded MoCA adapter like the one shown above from Actiontec, but the G1100 router only supports MoCA 2.0 not bonded MoCA 2.0, so you can’t get those higher speeds.

Even Faster Speeds?

So can you get even faster speeds than the 50 MB/s I mentioned above? Yes, but it requires a lot more work. Basically, you have to switch your Verizon ONT from coax to Ethernet and then get some Ethernet ports installed in your house.

By now, you’ve probably heard the phrase “Web3” more than a few times. Maybe it came up at work, at the gym, or at dinner during a friend’s ten-minute rant about why “Dogecoin is taking SpaceX to the Moon.”

All this talk about Web3 can be a little disconcerting. After all, most of us are still adjusting to the new socio-political reality that social media created, so the thought of a new version of the internet can be overwhelming.

But we’re here to define the necessary terms and unpack Web3 — the next stage of the internet. 

Before we begin, it’s important to note that Web3 is still in its infancy. As such, it’s rapidly evolving, and it will continue to evolve for quite some time. But although the full impact and ultimate form of Web3 won’t be realized anytime soon, we do have a firm understanding of its foundational principles. Namely, it’s centered on an ecosystem of technology projects that are: 





To break down exactly what these concepts mean and why they’re so fundamental to Web3, it helps to take a trip down memory lane. Discussing the history of the internet makes where we’re going a lot clearer.

What was Web 1.0?

So far, there have been two previous iterations of the internet: Web 1.0 and Web 2.0. Web 1.0 was the dinosaur age of the internet, spanning from the mid-1980s to the early 2000s. It was born out of work that began in 1973 when the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) started research on protocols that would allow computers to communicate over a distributed network. For the uninitiated, protocols are standardized, predetermined rules that let connected devices communicate with each other across a network. 

The earliest version of the web was decentralized, meaning that it was built on top of a series of free-to-use, open protocols. Unlike proprietary protocols, open protocols are not owned by a centralized authority or limited to a particular company’s products. Many of these early web protocols, such as HTTP (web), SMTP (email), and FTP (file transfer), serve as the foundation of the modern internet applications we know and love. 

In this respect, it was the “read-only” era. 

Website owners’ primary interest was disseminating information to as many readers as possible, not actively engaging with those who visited their site. When sites like IMDB were first born, web pages were just a smattering of links — and that’s pretty much all there was to the internet. 

What was Web 2.0?

For the past twenty years, we’ve been living with Web 2.0. It isn’t characterized by a technical shift. Instead, it stems from a change in how we use the internet. Web 2.0 is a version of the internet that enables everyday users to create, share, and publish content. The average individual isn’t a passive observer anymore. Instead, they play an active role in creating the internet.

Sadly, Web 2.0 is largely characterized and defined by these intermediaries. 

To find a company or brand, people rely on a Google search. To find interesting artists, people rely on Instagram or Spotify. To find products, people rely on Amazon. Have you seen the trend yet?

Platforms like Google, Spotify, Amazon, Facebook, and all the other big names in Web 2.0 serve as centralized data aggregators. They are intermediaries between suppliers and consumers, capturing nearly all the value — in the form of data and money — in the process. 

These multisided platforms, which create value primarily by enabling direct interactions between groups, rose in popularity with Web 2.0. In fact, they now dominate the global economy and are some of the world’s most profitable companies. This came with some problems. 

The problems in Web 2.0

Eventually, it became profitable for these platforms to make it more difficult for groups to interact directly with one another, and so intermediaries became more of a roadblock than a thoroughfare. Let’s use Facebook as an example. 

Now, Facebook is an intermediary that determines when and how users and businesses interact and engage. Google does much the same with their ad platforms and Amazon with their featured products.

In Web 2.0, these intermediaries hold all the power. They own all our data and dictate what we can and can’t do online, reserving the right to shut down our access to platforms whenever they please and at their sole discretion. Regardless of which side of the political line you fall on, you’ve all seen the power of these intermediaries first hand, such as with the suspension of former US President Donald Trump’s Twitter account.

For those concerned with data privacy, who fear the immense power that comes with such centralization, or who have no choice but to build businesses on the backs of social networks and commerce marketplaces, Web 2.0 has deeply troubling risks.

What is Web3 and why you should care

The stage following Web 2.0 was known as Web 3.0 until Gavin Wood coined “Web3” around 2014. For better or worse, the short name stuck. So, what is Web3? In short, Web3 is about undoing all the problems that came about in Web 2.0. This next generation of the internet is focused on shifting power away from big tech companies and towards individual users.

As was mentioned at the beginning, Web3 is centered on an ecosystem of technology products that are decentralized, trustless, permissionless, and interoperable. Now it’s time to explain exactly what this means and why you should care about Web3.

The meaning of decentralization and trustless

Rather than relying on a single centralized server, Web3 is built on top of blockchain-powered crypto networks that enable data to be stored across distributed devices (also known as “nodes”) worldwide. Ultimately, these distributed devices can be anything, such as computers, laptops, or even bigger servers. They serve as the framework of the blockchain, communicating with each other to enable the storage, spread, and preservation of data without the need for a trusted third party. 

Thanks to these nodes, the blockchain provides an immutable record — it’s a decentralized proof of ownership vehicle that is unlike anything we’ve seen before.

With Web 2.0, we’ve had no choice but to hand our data over to big tech giants like Google and Facebook. We had no choice but to rely on AWS for many of our tools and services. Even further, we’ve needed to trust that these parties will use this data ethically. As we’ve seen with the Cambridge Analytica scandal, it’s very easy for our data to be used against us, and this can have global socio-political ramifications. 

Problems like this are why the decentralized ownership of our data and identity, also known as “self-sovereign identity,” is more important than ever before.

The meaning of interoperability and permissionless

This self-sovereign ownership is achieved through digital wallets like MetaMask (for Ethereum and ETH-compatible blockchains) or Phantom (for the Solana blockchain). A little like a “wallet” in the real world, a digital wallet serves as your Web3 identity, safely holding both your currency and your data.

This wallet is interoperable, meaning it can be seamlessly taken around the internet and work with various products and systems, allowing you to choose which decentralized apps have access to your property. Additionally, all transactions and interactions on the blockchain are permissionless, meaning they don’t require approval from a trusted third party to be completed. 

Let’s dig into why this is helpful and necessary.

Today, individuals must use their Facebook or Google login to access many online applications, which forces them to hand over their data. But in Web3, individuals will own their identities. By replacing third parties with the blockchain, Web3 unlocks entirely new business models and value chains, ones where centralized intermediaries are no longer favored. Ultimately, Web3 takes power from the intermediaries and gives it back to individuals. 

In fact, we are already seeing this firsthand with NFTs (non-fungible tokens). 

Many artists, musicians, and other creators have recently started to experiment with ways in which they can receive the lion’s share of the revenue from their work. Much of this can be credited to the function of smart contracts, which are predetermined agreements programmed into a blockchain that automatically executes once specified terms are met. Specifically, with NFTs, smart contracts allow for secondary royalty structures, meaning creators get paid out every time their work switches hands on the open marketplace.

Thanks to this fundamental change in the value chain, creators are earning more than ever and slowly shifting the painfully true stereotype of the “starving artist.” That’s the essence of why you should care about Web3.

Alongside this new value chain, Web3 has birthed entirely new economic organizations. Decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) are a core function of interacting across the Web3 space. As Linda Xi explains, a DAO is a group of individuals organized around a mission that “coordinates through a shared set of rules enforced on a blockchain.”

And unlike traditional top-down organizations, which nearly all corporations or non-profits are, DAOs operate with a flat hierarchical structure, allowing all members a say in crucial decisions that affect the broader group — instead of just the primary shareholders. 

Several crypto projects can also be considered DAOs, as many of them are managed by a decentralized form of governance in which token holders vote on the project’s future. To date, DAOs have been used to crowdfund projects, govern communities, and have even attempted to buy the U.S. constitution. 

How is Web3 connected to the metaverse? 

While the terms “Web3” and “metaverse” are often used interchangeably, they shouldn’t be. They are not the same. 

The metaverse is best defined as a blending of the physical and virtual world. Proponents of the metaverse argue that such a future is inevitable and that humans will one day spend the bulk of their waking hours in a world that is augmented in some way. The idea gained a lot of traction recently, as Facebook’s founder, Mark Zuckerberg, bet big on the metaverse by renaming his social media company “Meta”.

Web3 is a decentralized version of the internet and doesn’t have anything to do with augmenting physical reality. While many Web3 protocols, such as NFTs or peer-to-peer cryptocurrency transactions, may be used in the future metaverse, Web3 is not the metaverse. 

What are the problems with Web3?

That said, there are more serious concerns with Web3.

To begin with, with significant changes comes significant risk. One of the best parts about Web3 is having full ownership of your data. It’s also the worst part. The Web3 space is still very much a Wild West, filled with bad actors. Without reliance on a centralized authority, you are fully responsible for keeping your data and currency safe. This means practicing proper wallet safety, constantly being alert for phishing schemes, and never (never ever!) giving out your seed phrase. Even the most trusted Web3 protocols and platforms have been hacked and exposed, so it’s crucial always to have your guard up.

In short, trustlessness isn’t a universal truth in Web3. You need to trust yourself.

There are also scalability issues. While few would argue that decentralization is a bad thing in and of itself, transactions are slower on Web3 precisely because they’re decentralized. Changes need to be processed by a miner and propagated throughout the network, which takes time. 

Then there are the gas fees. Gas fees are the payments that users make to use the Ethereum blockchain, the world’s most popular blockchain. Specifically, “gas” is the fee required to conduct a blockchain transaction successfully. These fees can soar to hundreds of dollars a transaction during peak times. 

Then there is the decentralization conundrum. Even though blockchains may be decentralized, many of the Web3 services that use them are currently controlled by a minuscule number of privately held companies. And there are valid concerns that the industry that’s emerging to support the decentralized web is highly consolidated.

And in truth, this is far from an exhaustive list of concerns. However, as mentioned, Web3 is still in its infancy, and many developers are actively working on solving the present problems. 

So, the main takeaway (if there is one) is this: Web3 is envisioned as the next stage of the internet. It’s a decentralized, privacy-first internet age where users own their data and profits are shifted away from centralized intermediaries and into the hands of creators and their communities. If the developers working on the current problems are successful, we might just get there.

How Enigmatic Artist Trippy Is Leading The Charge For Better Web3 Events

NFT events are broken. This fact shouldn’t be news to anyone within Web3. While the vast community of creators and builders have flourished in curating offshoot activations surrounding chúng tôi and the like, the conferences and conventions themselves continue to fall short.

Of course, there are exceptions. When the NFT community itself is the planner of such NFT conventions (like VeeCon, The Gateway, etc.), Web3 rejoices. Perhaps this is because those in Web3 know what their peers want to see, feel, and experience. In contrast, many popular NFT conventions seem to be a predatory echo of Web2 in Web3 clothing.

So why do we continue to populate these conventional conferences and use them as a home base? Why doesn’t the NFT space go its own way? This is the attitude of many within the community, perhaps most notably, the enigmatic artist known as Trippy. Through Trippy Labs, a multidisciplinary Web3 creative studio, the anonymous creator aims to make Web3 events more, well, Web3. How? By producing experiences that are made by and for the NFT space.

Beyond Basel

During the 2023 iteration of Art Basel Miami Beach, the who’s who of Web3 assembled at the tip of The Sunshine State to celebrate the past year’s feats and look toward a decentralized future. While nft now x Mana Common’s The Gateway sought to welcome the blockchain community to its five-day Web3 metropolis, on the other side of the city, Trippy Labs was curating a different vibe with Beyond Basel.

“With the state of the market, everything going on with FTX, and everyone questioning the state of NFTs and crypto in general, it was so important for us to pull off this event,” Trippy said in an interview with nft now. “I feel like [nft now] really crushed it during the daytime, then as soon as [The Gateway] shut down, we started up.”

Encompassing a full seven acres and featuring two outdoor stages and a 14,000-square-foot gallery, Beyond Basel set out to be the definitive Web3 festival. Packed with innovative visual art displays, gaming events coordinated by FaZe Clan, an interactive live voice-to-image AI booth, performances from influential electronic artists, and more, Beyond undoubtedly set the bar for what a dusk till dawn Web3 experience could (and perhaps should) be.

While the immersive art installations, cocktails, live music, and abundance of lasers screamed “party,” when the three-day event was complete, it became even more apparent how important IRL Web3 experiences are to blockchain culture. If the true utility of NFT events is the benefit of face-to-face interconnectivity, then to have robust and successful IRL experiences, the Web3 community must be their architects.

“[At NFT events] I’m meeting people from the last year or two that I might have spent time with on Clubhouse or Twitter Spaces during the first wave of NFTs. But then I’m also commingling with a lot of artists from the past decade who I’ve maybe shared pieces from on Instagram or done a creative project with and just never met in real life,” said Trippy. “I think that’s one of the underlying goals of events like Beyond Basel — trying to weave as many different creatives and technologists and interesting minds together.”

NFT events, created by Web3 communities

Contrary to popular belief (or the actions of bad actors), NFT events exist not to get wasted while speculating about which coins will moon next but for blockchain-based communities to meet and network in real life. This is precisely why Beyond Basel was marketed broadly as a networking event and celebration of art rather than a party with star-studded headliners. In addition to shaping public perception so NFT events can be communicated to their full potential, Trippy says the success of these activations comes down to having skin in the game.

“A lot of the success around events stems from longevity in the NFT space, constantly showing up in that scene, and trust,” said Trippy. “I did the same event last year at the same venue with many of the same partners with not as big of a roster, but many of the same artists as well. So [event success] was kind of a continuation of both Trippy as a brand being developed on socials for almost a decade and Trippy Labs as a collective specifically showing up in the NFT space over the last couple of years.”

While a lasting presence is undoubtedly helpful in getting NFT events off the ground, a pattern emerges when we look at the successes and failures of these events over the past few years. And it’s a pattern that depicts NFT events created and run by those within the NFT community as being the most successful, accessible, and by all accounts, enjoyable. On the other hand, NFT events created by corporations or out-of-touch organizations are shockingly expensive, confusing, and sometimes just downright laughable.

“Every time one of these conferences comes around, people realize more and more that these events should be giving money directly back to the NFT community,” said Trippy. “If someone made a chart of things that funnel money out of the community, and people saw how much money some of these conferences pulled in, I think they would really not be happy about supporting them.”

To reiterate: the fact that big-name NFT events are broken shouldn’t be new to Web3 communities. But as for what can be done about them siphoning time (and money) out of the ecosystem, according to Trippy, it really is all a matter of community action. “That model definitely has to change. If a bunch of us can align more on events, like, ‘Oh, here’s a few of us that have thrown events around the conferences. Can we all come together and kind of change up the calendar in upcoming years?’ I think that will happen as time allows.”

Get More Social Shares For WordPress Posts Using Social Locker

The Simple Mechanics Behind Social Sharing

You see, people are naturally egotistic animals. They only care about themselves and – to some extent – their close family. To “nudge” them to do something, you need to give them incentives. Or in some cases, prevent them from getting incentives before they do what we want.

This is the concept behind Social Locker. The plugin will help a WordPress owner to “lock” certain valuable parts of their post/page. The reader can unlock it only if they share the post/page to social media.

Of course, this tactic won’t do you any good if your content is about what you had for breakfast this morning. But if you have something that your readers want, they won’t think twice of sharing your post just to get it.

Using Social Locker

Install and activate the plugin, and you are ready to go!

Note: the developer also creates a similar plugin called Opt-In Panda that will unlock the content after the users join your mailing list or log in to your site. If you are currently growing your mailing list, I think Opt-In Panda should also be in your arsenal.

The first step of using Social Locker is to have valuable content. For example, you have a custom-made WordPress plugin that people want. You could create a post or page about that plugin and put the download link there.

Then you could lock the content using Social Locker. All you need to do is to put your protected content between Social Locker’s shortcode set. The default shortcode set is

You can either copy and paste the shortcode or highlight the valuable content and choose one of the available lockers from the BizPanda icon on the editor bar. And that’s as difficult as the process can be.

After saving/publishing the content, your reader will see the Social Locker bar on your post/page protecting your valuable information.

The content will be revealed as soon as they share the post/page.

More Settings – If You Want To

There are several things that you could tinker with if you want to customize the lock to fit your needs. Go to the “BizPanda” menu from the sidebar and choose “All Locker.”  Pick one that you want to edit and select “Edit.”

You can edit everything about the locker including the header and the message on the locker bar. You can also insert images and other elements to the locker bar to make it more attractive.

Other elements that you can edit are the shortcodes, theme, overlap models, the social button order, and more. Specifically regarding the social button, you can set different URL to share instead of the one where the Social Locker bar is located. This is useful if you want to accumulate shares on one of your articles. You can also use your home page URL to share.

You can use a different locker for a different post. The plugin allows you to create as many lockers as you want.
