Presentations, deadlines, meetings, networking events, family time and social obligations. Squeeze in a little ‘me’ time too. Does this describe a typical week? After such busy weeks, the motivation to learn something new or attend a class to accelerate your career is nearly zilch. But, can learning afford to take a backseat, especially in such a fast-paced, competitive world? What if we showed you a way to develop a learning mindset and make continuous learning a seamless part of your day-to-day routine, like the most inspiring and accomplished individuals in the world?

Read on if you are ready to make continuous learning a part of your life.

Tip #1: Consciously develop a work-life-learn balance

Research has shown that most skills have a half-life of about five years. Technical skills especially are at just two and a half years. The short shelf-life of technical skills reiterates that continuous upskilling and re-skilling efforts are mandatory to stay relevant.

As a professional, we learn both consciously and subconsciously. We subconsciously pick up information and learn every day by reading articles, working with new team members, implementing unique programs and tools, and reviewing presentations. However, learning in a more formal and conscious way is equally, if not more important to stay ahead of the rest. Include a learning hour in your day, or a learning session every week, and stick to it. Plan your meetings, deliverables, and engagements around this.

When I took up the 32-week Professional Certificate in Coding program by MIT xPRO, I wondered how I would manage a full-time job, my family, and the course. However, I was determined to complete the course. I had to multitask and plan well so that I could succeed all simultaneously. As it was an online course, it gave me the flexibility to manage all aspects of my life well.

– Matt Elliott, Learner

Tip #2: Identify your objective and work backward

Why? What is your ‘why’ behind learning? Figuring this out is vital. Most often we find it very difficult to change our way of thinking and functioning unless we have a strong, external motivation.

Focusing on the ROI can help you ensure you meet your daily or weekly learning goals and develop a good, long-term learning mindset. The ‘why’ could range from:

Switch to a new company or role

Need new skills for a promotion

Fear of becoming obsolete in the future

Wish to upskill to avoid stagnation in my current role

Tip #3: Find a learning and feedback buddy

There is a light at the end of the tunnel but the journey can get lonely, boring, and pointless if you are not self-motivated. The two most important aspects of effective learning are feedback and accountability. This not only ensures that the learning is continuously happening but is also implemented efficiently.

A learning and feedback buddy could be someone at your workplace or an acquaintance with whom you share learning goals. You might be learning different skills, but you can hold each other accountable, discuss approaches, and monitor regularly.

Tip #4: Take a step back and reflect on your learning journey

Learning as an adult is very focused and often occurs with an end objective. It is important to set metrics and learning outcomes at every stage. Be it an online course or a workshop, establish an action plan, review your learnings, and start implementing at the earliest. Instead of signing up for multiple courses and leaving them midway, it is highly recommended to take a step back, review your “why” and then sign up only for programs that help you achieve your end goals. This is a very important stage and will help you develop a healthy learning mindset.

Think of your career as a tool kit. Find the gaps and fill them with the right tools. You have to continually stretch yourself to do something you are not comfortable with or learn something new. To become a great leader is to learn continuously.

– Jakii Chu, CMO

Tip #5: Jump out of your comfort zone and be ready to apply your learning

We asked our Chief Product Officer, Shaun Dubash, how a learner must pick the right course or workshop. He said, “When it comes to learning you have to remember to truthfully answer these questions:

Is the source credible?

Are you building a good network and community?

Will you be able to apply what you have learned?”

The true measure of success when it comes to learning is application. Developing a learning mindset and making it a part of your schedule will happen only when you learn, apply, learn more, and grow. Application of learning can happen at your workplace. If there are no opportunities available, you could also take up small projects in your domain of choice and apply your learning. It is perfectly ok to fail, as it is the first stepping stone and will teach you the practical application of concepts that you have learned theoretically.

Tip #6: Tools to help you get started on your learning journey:

Time management

: Use your time wisely, build a daily and weekly schedule, and make room for learning, working, and spending quality time with your family and yourself.

Find interesting side gigs and projects

: You might not be able to apply everything you learn at your current workplace. Take up small projects and work with interesting people while applying your skills and solving problems.

Build a network

: Talk to like-minded people, discuss on forums, challenge ideas (and yourself), and always be open to learning something new.

Pick the right course

: Choose from a wide range of courses and pick ones that will help you accelerate your career. Compare universities, programs, fees, and learning outcomes before you make a decision.

Are you ready to learn? Emeritus can help!

The importance of continuous learning and developing a learning mindset is growing. Leaders across industries are recognising the need for it and making conscious efforts to reskill and upskill in order to stay relevant.

If you are looking for the right course to get started on your lifelong learning journey, then do explore our program page. Find the world’s best courses being offered by some of the top universities across the globe.

8 Easy Fixes For Imessage Is Signed Out Error On Iphone

The smooth sailing iMessage can sometimes encounter its iceberg and show you an ‘iMessage is signed out’ error on iPhone. This can be highly inconvenient as it prevents you from sending or receiving new messages. The error could be primarily related to the Apple ID, but in some cases, removing your SIM temporarily can also cause it.

But whatever the reason, here are eight surefire ways to fix the iMessage is signed out error on the iPhone.

1. Checking iMessage server

First and foremost, check if the problem is from Apple’s end. You can visit the System Status webpage and check if all is well.

If the dot beside iMessage is not green, that signifies an issue. And you will have to wait until the server recovers to gain access to your iMessage. If all is well, move on to the next troubleshooting method.

2. Restart your iPhone

If your iMessage is signed out randomly and you can’t log back in, rebooting the device might help resolve the issue. Plus, even if the issue is not resolved, this step will give you a fresh slate to start other troubleshooting methods.

In case you don’t know this method, check out our detailed guide on how to restart any iPhone.

A simple reset of the settings could eliminate the bug or rectify settings that might be causing the issue. All you have to do is;

3. Enable and disable iMessage

Launch the Settings app and go to Messages.

Toggle off the switch next to iMessage.

Wait for a few seconds and then toggle on the switch.

Now, try to log in to the iMessage. If the issue persists, try the next step.

The culprit behind the issue might be some Apple ID settings. So, check and reset if needed.

4. Check the Apple ID used for iMessage

Launch Settings → Message → Send & Receive.

Ensure that your Apple ID is added; if not, tap Use your Apple ID for iMessage to log in.

To reset the ID, tap Apple ID and select Sign out from the pop-up.

Now, restart your device and Sign in to the Apple ID again.

If you are still not able to sign in, try changing your iMessage location.

5. Reset iMessage Region on iPhone

Go to Settings → Message → Send & Receive → tap Apple ID → Change Location → tap Region → select current region & press save.

Still, no luck? It’s time to see if your Date & Time settings are up to the mark.

Quite like the location, incorrect date, or time can lead to several troubles, including this particular error. To resolve the ‘iMessage is signed out’ error, set the accurate time zone following the below steps.

Go to Settings and tap General.

Select Date & Time and see if the time zone is correct.

Toggle on the switch next to Set Automatically.

Apple’s periodic updates often carry fixes for various bugs. Ensure that your device is updated. Go to the Settings app → General → Software Update. Download and install the update if available.

8. Reset networks settings on iPhone

Before resetting, note that it will erase all saved WiFi networks, VPN, Bluetooth devices, and other network settings. So, jot down all necessary passwords and details before you proceed.

Open the Settings app and tap General.

Scroll down to Reset.

Here, select Reset Networks Settings.

Enter the device password to confirm the action.

Once done, try signing in to your iMessage again.

Say goodbye to iMessage is signed out error on iPhone

The troubleshooting methods above should resolve the ‘iMessage is signed out’ error. But if you still see the same error, give your iMessage 24 hours to process the changes. The troubleshooting steps may take time to activate. If the error persists even after 24 hours, you should contact Apple Support.

How To Develop Android Apps In Linux

It can be intimidating if you’re just starting out to develop an app for Android. Here you will find everything you need to know about building, publishing, and releasing an app on Android.

Tip: if you just want an Android app without the hard work of coding it yourself, check out these platforms that allow you to create Android apps easily.

How Android Applications Work

Android applications can be built in Java, Kotlin, or C++. Most modern Android applications are built in Kotlin. Both Java and Kotlin can combine into Java-byte code files. This process translates the programming human language to binary computer language.

These files, along with images, layouts, and fonts, are compressed into one package, called an APK file.

How to Set Up the Android Development Environment

A development environment is all the software tools you need to create applications. In Android, this is the Android software development kit, or SDK.

Android Studio

Android Studio is the official IDE for developing Android applications. The simple interface and the fact that it preinstalls all SDK components makes it a popular choice for upcoming developers.

To use snap to install it in Linux, navigate to the snap store and install “Android Studio.”

The installation package is also available on the Android Studio website. There are alternative PPA’s that you can use, but you may not be getting the latest version and will have to install each individual component.

Install the following dependencies:

apt-get install

libc6:i386 libncurses5:i386 libstdc++

:i386 lib32z1 libbz2-

These are 32-bit libraries that you need for developing on 64-bit machines. as many Android devices still use 4GB RAM or less. Download and unpack the Android studio archive to the folder where you want to install the application.

Start the application with the following terminal commands:

From there, you should be able to select your settings and components that you want to install.

The standard installation will install all the components you need for developing Android applications using Java. Kotlin is integrated into Android Studio and doesn’t require any additional installation.

How to Publish an Android Application

Now that you’ve developed your Android app that will change the world, you need to get it on the app store.

Add the following lines to your “build.gradle” file.

... defaultConfig

... versionCode =

versionName =

... versionName =

The versionCode is an internal indicator of how many versions of your application have been released. versionName is how users will see the release name, and productFlavors is to lock a certain version to a flavor. To restrict the versions your application can run on, use the following code:

... defaultConfig

... minSdkVersion

... minSdkVersion

We restricted our application to Android 12, or SDK version 31 using minSdkVersion . We also said our “Sun” version can run on versions after SDK version 21.

End-User License Agreement (EULA)

An end-user license agreement – or EULA – tells users what they can do with the application. You don’t want someone modifying your code and publishing their own application, but maybe you want to allow users to add their own mods to the application. A EULA allows you to dictate all of this. You can generate your own EULA online or create one of your own.

Cryptographic Keys

In the same way that you have a key that opens your front door, your application needs a key to identify you as the owner. Cryptographic keys also allow other applications and services to know your app is trustworthy. This prevents malware from infecting users’ devices or attacking web services everyone uses.

To generate your key, navigate to “Build” on the top-bar. Select “Generate Signed Bundle,” then “Android app bundle.” From there, create a new key. This will create an upload key. However, to publish an application on the Google Play store, you also need an “app signing key.” These are stored on users’ devices.

Play App Signing

To generate an app signing key, sign in to your Play Console. Create your release and choose a method of release. You can release your app for open testing, closed testing, internal testing or a production release.

Once you’ve done that, enter the “App Integrity” section, which should generate a new key if this is your first time releasing the app.

How to Create an Android App Bundle

If you’re going to upload your app to the app store, users need to be able to download a package with your compiled source code that their devices can install. App bundles allow Google to create APK packages for each version you selected and distribute them just as easily.

You can build it on the command line using these commands:

gradlew bundleRelease

It’s finally time to roll out your app for everyone to use. Before doing that, make sure that your app’s pricing and page is correct on the “App Content” page. Navigate to the “Releases Overview” page and select “Start Rollout.”

Frequently Asked Questions Do I need an Android device to start developing?

No. A device is helpful for testing and making sure your app looks the way you want it to. However, you don’t actually need one to develop applications for Android. Emulation allows you to test on your computer. The whole suite of Android tools is meant to make developing on your PC possible.

Is it possible to develop apps without using Google Play?

You can develop Android apps without Google Play. The tools that Google offers are helpful in distributing applications to a wide range of users and learning the tricks of the trade. Your users will need to allow third-party app installations, but nothing stops them from using your app if you don’t want to use the Google Play Store.

Blockchain Learning Made Easy Via Ivan On Tech Academy

Blockchain and cryptocurrencies have come a long way over the past few years. While these emerging technologies were scoffed at once upon a time, right now, they are making all the headlines, especially since the two are being looked at as transformative tools that are key to a more efficient future.

Don’t believe the hype? Well, look no further than a recent LinkedIn survey which found that blockchain is the highest-paying hard skill most companies today are looking out for. In fact, according to reports, blockchain engineers are making as much as AI experts.

However, while it wouldn’t be an understatement to say that blockchain and cryptos are “In,” the reality is the increasing popularity of these technologies also fuels a popular urge to understand them, and understand them well. Working with blockchain may be a high-paying job, but it is also one that requires a strong grasp of the technology’s fundamentals. Ergo, it isn’t surprising that quite a few online learning portals have emerged over the past few years to cater to this very need.

Now, you might have heard of Ivan Liljeqvist. I mean, of course you have. He is the host of Ivan on Tech, one of YouTube’s most successful and trusted blockchain channels. The Academy is Liljeqvist and Martinsson’s brainchild, with the platform today working towards becoming “the number one go-to-place for blockchain and cryptocurrency education in the world.”

How does the Academy operate?

Well, the Academy has on offer hundreds of hours of on-demand video courses, assignments, quizzes, homework, and also programming challenges. Now, while that does sound like Coursera, what must be remembered is that the latter primarily caters to those looking for just a fundamental understanding of ideas and subjects.

On the contrary, Ivan on Tech Academy caters to a more diverse audience. Whether you are a “noob” and new to the blockchain space, an upcoming developer who wants to have a big career, or a seasoned investor who wants to understand the technology behind the assets he’s investing in, the Academy’s coursework might just be perfect for all.

Just consider the courses that are available on the Academy’s website – Crypto for Basics, Blockchain and Bitcoin 101, The Bitcoin Standard Course, Ethereum Smart Contract Programming, Ethereum Game Programming, Javascript and C++ programming for Blockchain, Blockchain Business Masterclass, et al. are just a few of the courses available to anyone who wishes to take out the time and read up on the fundamentals of this technology.

That’s not all, however, since the courses in question aren’t just a list of lengthy, boring, and technical videos. Instead, they are short, comprehensive, and very interesting, with the course work punctuated by a series of quizzes and assignments as part of a well-structured curriculum.

And by comprehensive, I mean really comprehensive. Consider the course on Cryptography and Privacy Coins – Not only does it touch upon coins such as Monero, Zcash, and Dash, but it also expands on more conceptual topics like KYC laws, Linking UTXOs, Deterministic Wallets, Ring Signatures, Confidential Transactions, Zero-knowledge proofs, and MimbleWimble.

Now, that might sound too much, and it is. Ergo, it’s understandable if one loses their way going through the extensive course. However, Ivan on Tech Academy has got your back there too. All the available courses come with a roadmap, so anyone who’s pursuing one of these courses always knows where they stand and how they are progressing.

Even if you’re unsure about which coursework to pursue, Ivan on Tech Academy is quick to recommend a set of tracks, each differentiated by the primary audience and the learning outcomes attached to it.

Say you’re a business professional who is interested in the prospects of blockchain and how the tech can be integrated into independent businesses. Well, the Academy would recommend a dual courseload involving Blockchain and Bitcoin 101 and Blockchain Business Masterclass. Here, how will the latter help a user? Well, according to the Academy,

“All this knowledge will make you capable to lead a team of developers and be in charge of a blockchain project, whether it is your own company or whether you are part of a larger organization.”

Pricing plans

Once upon a time, going to school or college was the only way most gained a degree of technical skills and knowledge. Over the last ten years or so, however, this has changed, thanks to the popularity and accessibility of the Internet, and this is the medium Ivan on Tech Academy has sought to leverage as it caters to its audience of thousands.

Although there are schools and colleges right now that do offer courses on blockchain, the fact of the matter is most of these courses are taught by people who themselves are new to the field. Professors aren’t developers and academicians aren’t thought leaders, which is why Ivan on Tech Academy offers the easiest, most comprehensive way to learn and understand everything blockchain.

In fact, the Academy’s pricing model makes it an even better choice, with the platform offering Basic, Professional, and Premium plans that cater to every individual’s needs. Depending on the plan, inclusions may include Access to all Tracks and Courses, Livestream Q&As, 1-on-1 Programming Support, Career Advice, and even a Student Counselor.

For certain plans, the platform also offers a 14-day moneyback guarantee if a user is dissatisfied with the educational content presented to him.

What’s even better is that if you enroll and complete any course on offer on Ivan on Tech Academy, you’ll be given a legit Graduation Certification, one signed by founders Ivan Liljeqvist and Filip Martinsson. That, in itself, is a pretty neat incentive.

Finally, the Academy also works if you’re just looking for a basic overview of important concepts. That’s where the Academy’s Blog section comes in, with the platform presenting such articles on a timely basis, free of charge, to anyone and everyone.

All aspects considered, Ivan on Tech Academy is worth a shot. It’s a useful tool for newbies and experts alike, one that caters to different learning needs differently.

Find Your Windows 10 Product Key The Easy Way

Every licensed copy of Windows 10 has a unique license key and if you ever need to reinstall Windows, you’ll potentially need to find the Windows 10 product key to get things back up and running again.

The problem is that most people have never even seen their key, since they bought a computer with Windows preloaded. You may also have lost yours or forgot what you did with it. The good news is that there are many different ways to figure out what license key is yours.

Table of Contents

Also, be sure to check out our short video on our YouTube channel that walks you through the info we have written about in this article.

But First, Some Things You Should Know

Your Windows 10 product key is not locked to any sort of specific Windows 10 media. If you’ve lost your disc or flash drive with Windows 10, you can simply download a new copy and install from that. The key is simply a representation of your license.

Your Windows 10 license is also locked to a particular computer’s hardware. If you make a big hardware change, or change computers entirely, then you’ll have to do a reactivation so bind your license to the new hardware configuration. If Microsoft thinks you are abusing your license by installing Windows 10 to multiple machines at the same time, they may be unwilling to do this.

You Might Not Need It

If you have a Microsoft Account and have previously linked it to your Windows 10 product key, all you have to do on a new install is log in with your account details. Check out this article on how to link your product key to see how it works.

When you switch from a “local account” to logging in with your Microsoft Account, this probably happened automatically. If you are trying to activate a copy of Windows, simply change your account from local to Microsoft and it should work.

The same applies if you upgraded a copy of Windows 7 or 8, for which you would have needed a Microsoft Account. Simply log into Windows with your account credentials, since there is no product key involved here either.

Check Your Retail Box

This is very obvious, we know. Still it should be mentioned since, if you bought a boxed retail Windows 10 copy, this is the simplest way to find the Windows 10 product key. It should be inside the box printed on something.

Get It Straight From Windows Check Your Computer for a Sticker

If you bought a pre-built computer or laptop which came with Windows 10, check the chassis for a sticker which displays the Windows 10 product key. This is becoming less common with high-end laptops such as unibody ultrabooks, but plenty of computers still display their product keys on a sticker.

Check The Documents That Came With Your PC

If there’s no sticker in sight, there might be a certificate of authenticity in the document pack that came with your computer. Assuming that you didn’t throw all of those little pamphlets out, you might be lucky and find your product key in between the offers for antivirus packages and peripherals.

Use a Third-Party Tool

One of the easiest ways to retrieve your product key from a running machine is to use a third-party utility. Produkey worked perfectly for us on the latest version of Windows 10. Just run the program and your product key is right there.

Do note that some anti-malware packages will flag Produkey as a “PUP” or potentially unwanted program. It’s not a virus or anything harmful to your system, a PUP is just a tool that could be used by hackers to compromise your machine. However, this is your computer, so there’s nothing wrong with you using the tool to retrieve the key you already paid for.

Digital Store Records

If you bought your copy of Windows 10 through a digital storefront such as Amazon or the Microsoft Store, they’ll have a record of your product key. It will either be in the email you were sent confirming the purchase or in your order history, should you have deleted that email. So all you have to do is search your mailbox or log into your online account.

Hit Up The OEM

If you bought a pre-built computer or laptop that came with Windows, then you probably have an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) Windows license. This opens up the possibility that your OEM will know which product key goes with your computer’s serial number.

There’s no guarantee that they’ll have this information on hand for you, but if you’ve come this far down the list then it’s not the worst option.

The Last Resort: Call Microsoft

OK, this might not really be a last resort. While there have been ups and downs over the years, Microsoft’s online customer service was quite good the last few times we’ve had to deal with them. So if you do have problems activating Windows or finding your Windows 10 product key, there’s a good chance hopping on live chat with one of their service representatives will solve the issue.

Are You The Keymaster?

Product license keys are obviously on the way out when it comes to Windows, as Microsoft starts shifting to a cloud-based subscription model for its software and services.

For now however, we still have to occasionally deal with the minor road block of not having a Windows key in hand. The worst case scenario is being forced to buy a whole new Windows license, but hopefully the tips above will help you avoid that.

Learning Goes Virtual: How Edtech Is Transforming Education

Technological developments have considerably affected the way we live our lives, from our shopping habits to the way we do business. That said, it’s no wonder that EdTech is transforming education as well.

Ease of Communication

Once upon a time, it was necessary to talk to teachers face-to-face or call them on the phone to talk. Nowadays, it’s possible to keep the lines of communication open between the teachers, students, teachers and parents, and teachers and students in a more effective and faster way.

Thanks to smartphone technology and various messaging apps as well as email, it’s never been easier to communicate with one another, which has proven to be quite useful for more informed academic efforts, too.

Differentiated Instruction and Classroom Inclusion

Providing efficient education to students of all learning styles has always been a challenge for many teachers. With the help of EdTech, it’s now possible to address differentiated instructions easier and in a more entertaining manner, through interactive and engaging apps.

Furthermore, the need to cater the lessons to individual student needs is also critical when creating an inclusive classroom environment. Again, this is where technology can lend a hand.

Namely, students who find visual learning more effective can watch videos instead of just listening; they can play a game to understand the subject better, utilize technology for note-taking, and so on.

Lessons Have Become More Interactive

Video Streaming for Learning

With the option to play various educational videos, students nowadays are able to gain information about a certain subject from various sources.

What’s more, they can actually see something done in practice without having to wait for their teachers in classrooms to show it to them.

The options of video streaming are endless as it allows the students to instantly process a required set of actions, be it an IT type of a manual, or something like a tennis instruction video. Through videos, students are instantly able to understand and grasp the meaning behind the audio as well.

Not only does this enhance the effectiveness of the lesson learned but it also allows the students to expand their own views of the world.

Collaboration and Connectivity

Both students and teachers are able to utilize the Internet, which provides them with instant connectivity unimaginable just two decades ago.

Students from all over the world can connect with one another and share their knowledge and ideas, but the same goes for the teachers, too.

Education is pretty much a universal language and it’s possible to access websites where one can share their own resources as well as make use of the resources left by other teachers or students. As such, modern online technology has made global collaboration possible and extremely beneficial.

Distance Learning Is Nothing New

Essentially, wherever there’s an Internet connection, students can access virtual classrooms through different tools and have a comprehensive learning session regardless of where they are in the world.

The same goes for teachers. That way, it’s possible to continue learning and expanding one’s knowledge without the need to step into the classroom physically.

Resources Are More Accessible

Nowadays, it’s possible to access huge libraries in online forms as well as utilize educational mobile applications which make the whole learning experience more engaging as well as less costly for everyone involved.

With new technologies getting developed as we speak, we can only expect further transformations of the classroom environment and education as a whole. On a global level, different technologies are getting utilized as a part of every-day learning.

That said, we’re already living in the future and the only uncertainty involves the new innovations we’re bound to see for further upgrades and changes to the educational system and institutions.

After all, technology has become deeply ingrained in the lifestyle of modern society, and education is a crucial part of it all.
