Suggested January 2024 How To Use Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter

Microsoft’s Wireless Display Adapter is based on Wi-Fi certified Miraacast technology which allows you to stream content from any device to TV or Monitor. If you do not have a smart TV or Chromecast enabled device, then the display adapter can be a great choice. In this post, we will share how to use Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter. It will include setting up the adapter, connect your device with it, and prevent others from connecting to it.

Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter

Setting up Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter is easy, but make sure to secure your display adapter from invited guests. We have added a few FAQs at the end that will help you decide to go for Microsoft’s solution or an alternate one.

1] Connect Adapter to a TV

The first step is to make sure the display adapter is correctly powered. If your TV doesn’t have a USB port that can support the correct voltage (5V) to the adapter, then you will have to connect to an external power source for the same.

Plug the HDMI end of the adapter to the HDMI port of the TV. Repeat the same with the USB port or external adapter if it’s powerful enough.

Switch the input source of the TV to the HDMI port on which the adapter is connected.

2] Download & install Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter app

Microsoft offers an app for the Wireless Display Adapter through the Microsoft Store.

It allows you to configure these for the device:

Adapter Settings: Setup name, adjust display, and language. Make sure to set up a unique name after the correction is made. If there is more than one adapter in your vicinity, it will help you identify yours. You will have to disconnect and reconnect the adapter to see the changes reflected on other devices.

Security Settings: Setup PIN to restrict unknown sources to connect to the device. It will make sure to prevent others from connecting to your adapter

Firmware: Update firmware settings for the device when available. It will improve the overall performance of the device.

3] Connect Windows 10 device to the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter

The wireless display is like a second monitor except that there is no wire. So you need to follow the same steps you follow to manage dual monitor.

Use Win+P to open Windows Project.

It will display options to configure with a second monitor, and in the end, there is a link that says “Connect Wireless Display.”

Enter the Pin, and if it’s correct, you will be able to connect and stream.

What can you do with Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter?

If you have ever used casting, this is similar to that. Here is the list of things you can do with it.

You can either use it as a replacement to a projector or as a second screen. No wires, though.

Anyone can stream videos to the TV.

When using a second monitor, you can move apps on it, give a presentation, and more.

Not only Windows but if you have any device which can cast, it will work with that.

Difference between Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter & Chromecast?

Chromecast is built for streaming, while Microsft’s solution allows you to duplicate your computer screen. The next major difference is that Chromecast needs the internet to start streaming while the Display Adapter uses Direct Wi-Fi and works without the internet. It is best suited for a group that does not want to depend on internet stability to get started.

If you are wondering which one is better for you, then consider offline and online as your criteria since there is a price difference between them. If you want the casting to work anytime you want, choose Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter, else Chromecast should work fine.

I hope the post was easy to understand, and you were able to use the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter and use it with your computer.

How To Use Microsoft Loop

Microsoft Loop is a new app from Microsoft that has been included in the Microsoft 365 package. This tool is designed for collaboration where users can work together on tables, tasks, or notes from within a chat, documents, or email.

You might be wondering why we need to have this Microsoft Loop app since there are several ways to collaborate using Microsoft 365 for quite a long time. For example, folks can share OneNotes with multiple people, and work together closely by using Word, and presentations.

How to use Microsoft Loop

Visit the website and sign in with your Microsoft account. From there, you must create a workspace and add a title, along with the content relating to that title. Finally, you can share it with co-workers.

Go to Loops main screen

Create a new Loop workspace

Change the design

Add title and content

Share the Loop workspace

1] Go to Loop’s main screen

Before we can get down to the nitty-gritty, we must first open the main menu area of Loop. To get this done, you must open your favorite web browser.

After that, navigate to the official Loop web page.

Ensure to sign in with your Microsoft account or else you will not be granted permission to go forward.

You should now be greeted with the main page of Loop, and it should look similar to the photo above.

2] Create a new Loop workspace

The next step is to create a new workplace. One is there by default, and it is called Getting Started. It will give the user ideas of what to do, but it’s quite basic from our point of view.

There is also the option to invite members of your team to the Loop workspace.

3] Change the design

After creating your workspace, we suggest adding a cover. At the moment, there is no option to add your own cover, therefore, you must use what is made available via the Gallery.

Options in the gallery are limited at this time since there are only 35 cover photos available.

But you should not be surprised because Microsoft Loop is currently in public preview, so things will get better.

So, select one of the images from the gallery for your cover.

4] Add title and content

Type a name for the page. It can be whatever you deem fit, just as long as it fits with the theme of the workspace.

Here you can add content relating to the newly created workspace.

Insert the forward slash to add a heading, table, checklist, bulleted list, numbered list, and divider.

The at button, then, will help you tag members of the Loop workspace.

5] Share the Loop workspace

Now, after creating the workspace, the ability is there to share it with others. This can be accomplished with ease, so let us look at what to do.

You should see a small dropdown menu.

Select either to share as a Page Link or Loop Component.

Is Microsoft Loop available now?

Microsoft Loop is now available in Public Preview on the web, and for iOS and Android devices. The service was first shown back in 2023, and the idea is to allow people to work on projects with components that can be updated live. Not only that but these components can later be dropped into Microsoft 365 apps such as Word and Outlook.

Many users haven’t been able to install the Wireless Display Media Viewer after upgrading to the Windows 10 Creators Update. More specifically, the app won’t completely install and when users try to launch, only a blank window opens.

What’s worse it that there is no uninstall option available. Actually, the Wireless Display Media Viewer is installed under the name “Miracast view” as an app package, but Microsoft denied users access to remove it.

Here’s how one user describes this issue:

Fortunately, there are a few solutions to fix this problem. So, if you are experiencing various Wireless Display Media Viewer issues after upgrading to the Creators Update, follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.

How to fix Wireless Display Media Viewer bugs

Solution 1 — Update your drivers

After installing the Windows 10 Creators Update, don’t forget to update your drivers. If Windows doesn’t find a new driver, try looking for one on your device manufacturer’s website and follow their instructions.

Solution 2 — Refresh, reset, or restore your system

Refreshing your PC reinstalls Windows, keeping your personal files, settings, and apps intact. Resetting your PC reinstalls Windows but deletes all your files, settings, and apps except for the apps that came with your PC. Restoring your PC allows you to undo recent system changes.

Users confirm that performing a reset does the trick. However, we recommend you first perform a refresh or a restore. In this manner, you won’t delete your files and apps. If this doesn’t help, perform a system reset but bear in mind that this action will permanently delete a series of files and programs.

For a step-by-step guide on how to refresh, reset, or restore your system, check out Microsoft’s support page.

Solution 3 — Uninstall Wireless Display Media Viewer using Psexec and DB Browser for SQLite

Many Creators Update users confirm the following solution offered by Insider Alex Appleton does the trick. Here are the steps to follow:

1. Download Psexec and DB Browser for SQLite and install them

2. Launch Command Prompt and run psexec as system using this command: chúng tôi -i -s -d cmd.exe

3. Open the DB Browser for SQLite as system and launch the executable under command prompt using this command:

C:Program FilesDB Browser for SQLiteDB Browser for SQLite.exe

This is the location if you installed the app to its default path. If you installed it elsewhere, change the command accordingly.

4. Go to the “Open Database” button at the top and open the following database file:

C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsAppRepositoryStateRepository-Machine.srd

6. Under the PackageFullName column of Windows.MiracastView_6.3.0.0_neutral_neutral_cw5n1h2txyewy, change the value under the IsInbox column from a 1 to a 0 and save the changes.

7. Remove the Wireless Display Media Viewer with PowerShell using the following command:

How To Display One Page At A Time In Microsoft Word At Any Resolution

There was a point in the not-too-distant past where monitors were not nearly as high-resolution as they are now. While higher resolutions have enhanced the computing experience for the majority of people, not everything is for the better.

With more displayed at once, programs like Microsoft Word often attempt to make things “better.” Depending on who you ask, these changes aren’t always an improvement. Just like changing to the Ribbon UI, displaying two pages at once on high-resolution displays has been controversial. Many people want to display one page at a time in Microsoft Word instead.

Luckily, it is possible to change things to suit your own preferences.

1. Change the View Layout

1. Move across the Ribbon UI to the “View” options.

2. The first three buttons on the left include “Read Layout,” “Print Layout” and “Web Layout,” with Print showing the document across virtual A4 pages. Select Web Layout.

3. The change should be apparent, as the document is no longer parsed into virtual pages, and it will run for the entire width of the window.

4. Change back to “Print Layout.” For whatever reason, this will display the document one page at a time. It’s a simple, yet effective way to display one page at a time in Microsoft Word.

2. Change the Zoom Level

2. You can choose a variety of zoom options, but “Many Pages” on the right and the button below it should attract the most attention.

4. Once you’ve done this, you’ll see that Word’s zoom level is going to change. Go back to the left and change it to 100%. Confirm this change.

5. If the document is not already two or more pages long, such as what happens when you open Word to try this, add another page with Ctrl + Enter. It should either appear alongside the existing page or below it, depending on what you chose.

If you’re using the online version of Microsoft Word, this is the best way to display one page at a time in Microsoft Word. The web version doesn’t have the same view options as the desktop version. The good news is Word usually defaults to the Web View anyway since you’re using it online, which typically gets rid of this issue automatically.

If you’re just looking through a document, you can also set “Read Mode” or “Reading View” to set pages to scroll versus being side by side.

Conclusion

The ability to control Word’s display of pages is invaluable; a Google search results in numerous complaints about its default handling of high-resolution monitors. While we’ve covered a few ways to improve Word, such as reintroducing the 2003-era UI and tabs, this one requires no extensions or add-ons.

Should you wish to revert your changes, it’s as simple as following Solution 2 and adjusting the “Many Pages” section to suit. The simplicity of this tweak, coupled with the polarizing nature of Word’s default approach, makes it highly valuable.

Do you also know that you can merge documents in Microsoft Word and add offline videos? If not, check it out.

How To Setup Automatic Wireless Sync Between Android And Pc

There are a number ways this could be useful for you. You can preset which folders you want to sync with options to either keep the files on both devices or copy to PC and delete from Android or vice-versa. Your devices will automatically transfer files whenever connected to the same WiFi network without even a bit of your interaction.

We’ll show you how to setup wireless syncing between Android and PC using the free Syncme Wireless app from bvaisoft in the step-by-step guide below:

How to wirelessly sync data between Android and PC

First things first! Download the SyncMe Wireless app on your Android device. You don’t need to download anything on the PC though, the app uses Windows default file sharing feature between same networks.

 icon-download Download SyncMe Wireless

Enable sharing on your Windows PC?

Step 2: On the properties tab, select Sharing and then select ‘Share’ option.

Step 5: On this dialog box, select the ‘Browse’ option as you see in the screenshot below. And then select the folder you just shared in the steps 1 and 2 above.

That’s it your PC is now set for wireless syncing with your Android phone. Let’s setup the SyncMe wireless app now on your Android device.

Setting up SyncMe Wireless app on Android

Step 1: Open the SyncMe Wireless app and select “Add computer” option to connect it to your PC.

Step 2: On this screen, the option to configure and connect your Android device with your PC is shown. For that, you would have to enter your log in details (which you use to log in to your PC) is required. First, select the ‘Computer Name’ option. Now, the app will scan the WiFi network and if everything goes fine, your PC will be shown and select it. Next select ‘User’ option and enter the User ID and password that you use to log in to your PC.

Step 3: If the log in details are correct and the computer responded correctly, you’ll be taken back to the sync menu. Here, you’ll see the list of connected PC’s. Select the corresponding connected PC from the list, and a pop-up with following options will show: Add sync folder, Edit and Delete. Edit and Delete options perform their intended functions. We’ll select the sync folder option from here.

Step 4: On the Add sync folder option, you’ll see many options. We’ll look closely on each option and what they does.

Select the first one – ‘Device folder’. This option lets you choose which folder in your phone is to be synced. Browse to the folder to be synced and select the folder.

Now, select the next option – ‘Computer folder’. This thing is similar to the last option, but lets you select the shared folder (which we did on the setup on PC). Browse and select the folder from the list.

Next is the Schedule option and Copy to option, Schedule lets you schedule syncs based on different conditions based on time, day, charge status or even based on WiFi network. Copy to defines how the sync is to be happened. That is, from computer to device/device to computer/etc. (see screenshots).

Step 5: Now go back and press OK. This will land you in the ‘sync jobs’ screen we saw in step 1. Select the shared computer and you’ll see a similar pop up we saw in step 2, but with an added option ‘Run’. Select it to begin the wireless sync setup between your PC and Android device.

That’s all!

How To Report Hate Speech Content To Microsoft

It won’t be overkill to call the Internet the innovation of the century – but that doesn’t mean that it is necessarily a charming place. The Internet, just like all the other things in this world, has its dark side, including haters, trolls, abusers, and also cybercriminals, just like how one would go and report abusive behavior to a cop in the actual world, the same can also be done on the Internet. Microsoft has launched a new initiative to make it easier for internet users to report such unruly behavior. But before that, we need to understand what exactly does hate speech constitutes and how we can report the same to the authorities.

What is Hate Speech

Hate speech in the online world is very similar to the real world except for the fact that the identities of the abuser might not be revealed. Hate speech attacks a group or an individual based on attributes like religion, sex, race, disability, and sexual orientation. A website that uses hate speech is commonly referred to as a hate site. If you find abuses hurled at you or a video trying to target a community, in general, it’s time you report the same. Extremist groups & Terror organizations have been leveraging this very hate speech to lure the people into their organizations. While most online services, including Twitter and Facebook, are fighting in unison to end this menace, it is far from over.

Report Hate Speech to Microsoft

Microsoft seems to have taken it upon itself to make the world wide web a better place and, as a result, has launched a new dedicated web form for the complaints. Tha is what folks at Microsoft had to say about the new initiative.

“Microsoft is committed to creating safe online communities where our customers can learn, play, grow and interact without the threat of violence or hatred. That’s why for many years we’ve sought to protect our customers by prohibiting hate speech and removing such content from our hosted consumer services. While neither our principles nor our policies are changing, we are refining some of our processes to make it easier for customers to report hate speech. We’re also simplifying requests to reinstate content that customers feel was removed in error”

Microsoft already has a solid guideline for taking down hate speech. In all likelihood, the company is just fine-tuning the entire process and making it more efficient. Further, Microsoft says it will retain the “notice and takedown” approach for removing prohibited content found on hosted consumer services.

However, all content that you may find offensive or consider hate speech will be reviewed thoroughly before it is finally removed from the website.

You need to fill in this web form with all the details asked for and try to be as contextual as possible. Once the request is sent, it will be queued for review, and the findings will be communicated via e-mail.

So it’s time for us as netizens to sweep the Internet clean of hate speeches and inflammatory content.
