OnePlus has already released a stable Android 10 update for the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7. The update is available for unlocked and global models of the OnePlus 7 Pro but as is the case with software updates on the carrier-locked version, it hasn’t reached T-Mobile variants yet.
Luckily, if you have a T-Mobile variant of the OnePlus 7 Pro and want to update to the latest Android 10 update, there’s a workaround after which you can install Android 10 software on your locked model like you would on an unlocked one.
In this guide, we’ll help you convert your T-Mobile OnePlus 7 Pro device into an unlocked model and force update the device to Android 10.
How To Get Android 10 on your T-Mobile OnePlus 7 Pro
The process of updating your T-Mobile OnePlus 7 Pro involves covering the device to an unlocked OnePlus 7 Pro running on Global ROM. When the conversion is done, you can easily update the phone to Android 10.
Do this only if you know what you are doing!
As this process will wipe everything on your device, make sure you have backed up all the data you need so that you can restore it after the factory reset.
Ensure that you back up all the important data (including photos and videos, contacts, music, videos, files, etc.) on your OnePlus 7 Pro.
Method 1: Ask T-Mobile to unlock it, and then use TWRP recovery
Instructions for Method 1
Unlock the bootloader of your T-Mobile OnePlus 7 Pro. Under this, you will need to ask T-Mobile to SIM unlock the device for you, and then unlock the bootloader of the device. If you’ve already done this before coming here, move on to the next step.
Enable Developer options, then OEM unlocking, and then USB debugging:
Open the Settings app on your phone.
Scroll down and tap on About phone.
Tap on Build number multiple times until you get a notification that you’re now a developer. (You may need to provide the security password first.)
Tap on the back button to go back to the main screen of the Settings app.
Tap on System.
Tap on Developer options.
Scroll down a little and tap on OEM Unlocking to enable it.
Find the USB debugging option and tap on its toggle button to enable it. Connect the device to PC using the USB cable now.
A warning pop-up will show up on the phone regarding USB Debugging, tap on the OK button to continue.
Create a separate folder on your PC and name it global101.
Now, transfer the TWRP file into the global101 folder.

Reboot into TWRP recovery. With the device still in fastboot mode, do this:
Use volume keys to bring up the Recovery mode option on the device’s screen.
Press the power button to select it and reboot into recovery mode where you will have TWRP recovery now.
Unplug the phone from the PC.
Plug in the USB OTG Pen drive containing the latest ROM to your OnePlus 7 Pro.
Install the ROM file. Do this:
On the home screen of TWRP, tap on Install.
Tap on Storage.
Tap on USB.
Browse and select the ROM.
Confirm on the next screen.
Let TWRP install the global variant’s ROM on your T-Mobile OnePlus 7 Pro. Wait till it’s finished.
Now, you need to flash this file again in the second slot. Otherwise, you will get the Qualcomm crash dump error. It’s way easier now because we have TWRP now.
Tap the Home button in TWRP.
Tap on Reboot.
Tap on the slot that is not your current slot.
If the current slot is A, then tap on Slot B at the bottom.
If the current slot is B, then tap on Slot A at the bottom.
Repeat step 15 to install the ROM again.
Confirm on the next screen to begin the installation.
That’s it. Once the process is done, you will have the Android 10 update installed on your T-Mobile OnePlus 7 Pro.
You can tap the Reboot button now to restart the device and enjoy the Android 10 update. But you will lose TWRP recovery. To keep TWRP recovery on Android 10, do the next step instead of tapping the Reboot button.
If you want to keep TWRP after Android 10 update, do the below:
Go to the home screen of TWRP recovery.
Transfer the TWRP’s ZIP file if you don’t have it on your device.
Tap on the Install button, and then select the TWRP zip file.
Go back to the home screen of TWRP recovery.
That’s it, you now have Android 10 running on your T-Mobile OnePlus 7 Pro and you’re also eligible for future updates like any other unlocked OnePlus 7 Pro.
Method 2: Using MSM Download Tool
If you are unable to get T-Mobile to unlocked the device, you can directly do that using the tool called MSM Download. Even though there are countless reports of people successfully using the MSM Download tool, it’s a bit riskier option merely because you are using a completely unofficial software.

Open MsmDownloadTool V4.0-Patched_Alpha_3.exe.
Untick the ‘Sha256 check’ at the top of the window.
Also ensure, the checkbox next to ‘Auto reboot’ remains ticked and ‘Use Lite Firehose’ is unticked.
Patching will take around 5 minutes.
Once patching is completed, the phone will reboot and boot into the OS without the T-Mobile logo.
Your OnePlus 7 Pro T-Mobile is running the same software version as that of the International OnePlus 7 Pro bought from OnePlus. Wait till it’s completely booted.

For this method, you will need to install three apps from the Google Play Store.
BusyBox gives your phone access to Linux commands that you wouldn’t typically have. It is necessary to enable many root apps to work.
Linux Deploy is an open-source program used to easily and quickly install Linux OS on your Android mobile phone.
It works by creating a disk image on a flashcard, mounting it, and installing an OS distribution.

Step 1: Make sure you have enabled ‘OEM unlock‘ under the Developer options in the Settings app.
Step 3: Also, download Odin PC software (latest version, 3.13.3).
Step 5: Extract the Odin file. You should get the Odin exe file (other files could be hidden, hence not visible).
Step 6: Disconnect your Galaxy device from PC if it is connected.
Step 7: Boot your device into download mode:
Power off your device. Wait for 6-7 seconds after the screen goes off.
Connect the device to PC using the USB cable while pressing and holding Volume down + Bixby buttons together until you see the Warning screen (image).
Press Volume Up to continue to download mode.
Step 9: Connect your device now using the USB cable. Odin should recognize your device. It’s a must. When it recognizes, you will see Added!! message appearing in the Log box in the bottom left, and the first box under ID:COM will also show a no. and turn its background blue. Look at the pic below.
You cannot proceed until you get the Added!! message, which confirms that Odin has recognized your device.
If you don’t get Added!! message, you need to install/re-install drivers again and use the original cable that came with the device. Mostly, drivers are the problem (look at step 2 above).
You can try different USB ports on your PC too.
Info: When you load files, Odin checks the md5 sum of the firmware file, which takes time. So, simply wait until that’s done and the firmware file is loaded. Don’t worry if Odin gets unresponsive for a while, it’s normal. Binary size will also show up in Odin.
Go back to the Log tab now, as it will show the progress of the firmware installation when you hit the start button in the next step.
Wait till the installation is finished, after which your device will reboot automatically. You’ll get the PASS message as shown below upon successful installation from Odin.
Some errors you may run into, and with the respective solution.
If Odin gets stuck at setup connection, then you need to do this all again. Disconnect your device, close Odin, boot device into download mode again, open Odin, and then select the file and flash it again as said above.
If you get FAIL in the top left box, then also you need to flash the file again as stated just above.
Once you install the Android 10 firmware on your Note 9, it will reboot. It will take it time restarting, so be patient, and when it’s done, it will start optimizing apps, after which you will have Android 10 running on your device.

Budget buyers, rejoice: LG has made Android affordable with its new Optimus T handset on T-Mobile ($30 after a $50 mail-in rebate and a new two-year contract; price as of November 20, 2010). But how much bang are you getting for your buck? Considering its disappointing media capabilities, lower-end processor, and subpar call quality, I’d say not much.
The design reminds me somewhat of the Google Nexus One. The 3.2-inch, 320-by-480-pixel capacitive touchscreen takes up most of the face. On the back is a 3.2-megapixel camera (sans flash, but more on that later), and on the right spine is the volume rocker. Under the screen, you have four physical buttons: Menu, Home, Back, and Search. As I mentioned earlier, the buttons are easy to press, and quite responsive. At the top of the device, you’ll find the usual 3.5mm audio jack and power button; on the bottom is the micro-USB port. The phone comes in black, titanium, or burgundy.

I was unimpressed with the call quality. I found the earpiece to be too quiet by default, and I had to raise the volume all the way up to hear calls properly. My contacts said that I came through fine but sounded a bit muffled. The Optimus T does an average job of filtering background noise; calls I made at a busy shopping mall kept out all but the loudest sounds. Calls conducted over Wi-Fi still use plan minutes, and quality will vary network to network. On my personal home network, my calls were interlaced with random bursts of static that ranged from mild to severe.
The camera–offering only 3.2 megapixels and limited controls–was disappointing. Colors were dull, and the camera seemed to have trouble focusing when multiple objects were in the frame. Since it has no flash, I would not recommend using the camera in low lighting, as images come out rather dark. You can adjust ISO and white balance, but in my tests that didn’t seem to help. The video camera was just as bad–artifacts plagued the frame, and audio sounded far away. Games played okay, but text appeared jagged due to the low resolution of the screen.
The LG Optimus T is a bare-bones Android device available for a reasonable price. Along with the Motorola Defy and the T-Mobile Comet, the Optimus T makes Android affordable to a slew of new users. If you’re looking for basic Android functions on T-Mobile but you don’t want to spend a lot, the LG Optimus T will be a perfect fit. For anyone else, I recommend skipping this phone and upgrading to the excellent MyTouch 4G instead.
