Suggested April 2024 How To Display One Page At A Time In Microsoft Word At Any Resolution
There was a point in the not-too-distant past where monitors were not nearly as high-resolution as they are now. While higher resolutions have enhanced the computing experience for the majority of people, not everything is for the better.
With more displayed at once, programs like Microsoft Word often attempt to make things “better.” Depending on who you ask, these changes aren’t always an improvement. Just like changing to the Ribbon UI, displaying two pages at once on high-resolution displays has been controversial. Many people want to display one page at a time in Microsoft Word instead.
Luckily, it is possible to change things to suit your own preferences.1. Change the View Layout
1. Move across the Ribbon UI to the “View” options.
2. The first three buttons on the left include “Read Layout,” “Print Layout” and “Web Layout,” with Print showing the document across virtual A4 pages. Select Web Layout.
3. The change should be apparent, as the document is no longer parsed into virtual pages, and it will run for the entire width of the window.
4. Change back to “Print Layout.” For whatever reason, this will display the document one page at a time. It’s a simple, yet effective way to display one page at a time in Microsoft Word.2. Change the Zoom Level
2. You can choose a variety of zoom options, but “Many Pages” on the right and the button below it should attract the most attention.
4. Once you’ve done this, you’ll see that Word’s zoom level is going to change. Go back to the left and change it to 100%. Confirm this change.
5. If the document is not already two or more pages long, such as what happens when you open Word to try this, add another page with Ctrl + Enter. It should either appear alongside the existing page or below it, depending on what you chose.
If you’re using the online version of Microsoft Word, this is the best way to display one page at a time in Microsoft Word. The web version doesn’t have the same view options as the desktop version. The good news is Word usually defaults to the Web View anyway since you’re using it online, which typically gets rid of this issue automatically.
If you’re just looking through a document, you can also set “Read Mode” or “Reading View” to set pages to scroll versus being side by side. Conclusion
The ability to control Word’s display of pages is invaluable; a Google search results in numerous complaints about its default handling of high-resolution monitors. While we’ve covered a few ways to improve Word, such as reintroducing the 2003-era UI and tabs, this one requires no extensions or add-ons.
Should you wish to revert your changes, it’s as simple as following Solution 2 and adjusting the “Many Pages” section to suit. The simplicity of this tweak, coupled with the polarizing nature of Word’s default approach, makes it highly valuable.
Do you also know that you can merge documents in Microsoft Word and add offline videos? If not, check it out.

Next to the new battery health management and FaceTime adjustments, macOS Catalina 10.15.5 includes a new update for Pro Display XDR owners to be able to fine-tune the calibration of the display by adjusting white point and luminance values to match in-house display calibration targets.
The new fine-tune calibration option joins the previously released ability to establish custom user reference mode presets.
When the Pro Display XDR launched, it lacked the ability to customize its calibration. Sure, it featured several canned profiles that added some ability to adjust display settings, but professional users, especially those in the creative world that needed to match the settings of other in-house displays, required more. macOS 10.15.5 brings a second phase of customization to the table. How to fine-tune the calibration of the Pro Display XDR
When you connect your Pro Display XDR to a Mac running macOS Catalina 10.15.5, you should receive an “Accessory Update Available” notification to update the Pro Display XDR. This update will require you to restart your Mac with the display connected.
Select the Fine-Tune Calibration option, and you’ll be presented with settings to adjust white point and luminance values.
As noted by Apple documentation, this new settings panel allows users to adjust the x and y chromaticity coordinate as described in the CIE 1931 xyY color space when measuring a white image. It will also allow you to adjust the Y value (luminance) as described in the CIE 1931 xyY color space when measuring a white image.
In addition, users have the option of entering a description to describe the details of the customization. When a display is fine-tuned, this description will be displayed under the Current Fine-Tuning section. If the display hasn’t been fine-tuned, this field shows None.
Lastly, this settings panel will also show the date and time when the current fine-tuning was applied.Related video: Pro Display XDR Top features

Users can apply these settings to adjust the Pro Display XDR to more closely match the look of other in-house display assets. For example, an editor or graphics artists working with other calibrated displays will want the look of the Pro Display XDR to match their other work canvases.
Keep in mind that to apply this update to the Pro Display XDR, you must be running the macOS Catalina 10.15.5 or later. If you haven’t already updated, simply go to System Preferences → Software Updates.9to5Mac’s Take
When the Pro Display XDR launched, it lacked the ability to do things like customize preset settings and fine-tune calibration settings by adjusting white point and luminance values. Apple promised that these features would be added in a later update, and now it has fulfilled these promises.
Granted, these are the type of granular settings that won’t typically be used by general consumers, but considering the target audience for this high-end display — film studios, design houses, and the like — it makes sense. Hopefully this doesn’t mark the end of Pro Display XDR improvements and Apple continues to add new features down the line.

Menino’s Time at BU: Cut Short, but Indelible In academia, a chance to reflect, share career wisdom
During his five terms as mayor of Boston, Thomas Menino (Hon.’01) was known for visiting neighborhoods throughout the city and participating in city events. Photo by Jeff Myers
Former Mayor Thomas Menino’s time at Boston University was short, but he leaves an indelible impression with his fellow faculty, students, and staff. Signing on last February to co-direct the Initiative on Cities, Menino (Hon.’01) spoke often about the shock of shifting gears from the around-the-clock responsibilities and trials of running a city to the more human pace of academia.
Settled into his swivel chair in an outsized mahogany-trimmed office on Bay State Road, the five-term mayor, who made no apologies for—and gleefully capitalized on—his slurred diction, had the opportunity to share his thoughts on what makes a city great, what he accomplished at Boston’s helm, and what remains to be done. Menino was particularly passionate about the ravages of climate change and the need for Boston to step up on behalf of future generations. Often pointing to his beloved Hyde Park as a model of urban livability, the former mayor routinely expressed hope that his city’s diversity would increase along with its population. And he was proud of the low-budget human touches that make Boston more livable—the landscaping around subsidized housing in Roxbury, the well-maintained pocket parks, the inner city ball fields verdant with Astroturf.
Father of two and grandfather of six, Menino adored young people. In his months at BU he tried to combat what he saw as growing cynicism about public service and government in general. While students may have had to lean in to make out his precise words, he had a rare gift for getting at the meat of an issue. There would be no florid prose from the man who never strayed far from his blue-collar roots, but with young Menino Scholars gathered around, he’d offer an honest, memorable description of what makes a good mayor: “You have to be a good listener. And being mayor, you have to work at that. It’s not one of those jobs with a lot of pomp and circumstance.” In all his years of listening (“People yell at you all the time,” he recalled), here at BU Menino found himself in a position to do most of the talking. Here is some of what he had to say during a series of interviews with BU Today. On City Hall versus academia:
As mayor, you have to make most decisions right away. Over here in academia we have to plan things, we think things out, and try to use what we are doing to help make a difference in policies and procedures and educate individuals about the issues out there. And here we can work to make sure we have an educated workforce out there, to make this the best city in the country. That’s what it’s all about. On young people’s cynicism about government:
They’re cynical, and I don’t blame them. There is a perception that the government isn’t working. But the government is where it starts. You learn so much when you deal with people every day. What I tell people going into government is, you’re helping people, and that should be your first goal. You have to adjust to situations, so what you do still has meaning. I’d like young people to think about going back to government, and helping out—to get the “Me” generation to think about being an “Us” generation. On college students and voluntarism:
Honestly, this generation in college now, they are more into voluntarism than the previous generation. Can we do better? We can do better. But I‘ve seen an improvement over the last two or three years and a huge improvement from the previous ten years. On Boston’s growing appeal: On the importance of cooperation:
The most important thing mayors can do once they get elected is to find good people to serve with them and not have the ego that the people around you can’t be smarter than you are. When they are, that helps you. Also, reach out to people to come and help you with issues on education and public safety. Other elected officials are willing to help. They love to help.On quality of life issues: On Boston’s strong economy:
Boston is very unique. We have higher education, health care, financial services, and tourism. We have four foundations of our economy. When one goes down, the other picks up. Especially universities and hospitals—they’re always expanding, they’re always growing. On setting an example for the city:
The mayor is the guy who sets the tone for the whole city. Is he involved in communities of color, in issues with young people? People get a perception of the mayor who cares about those problems. It was my job to be out there. It was my job to be on the front line—if tragedy happens in the neighborhood, if there’s a shooting, you have to be there for that family, for those parents. On climate change and sustainability:
We’re only going to go so far, because the problem we have in this city with sustainability and climate change is that we have too much scientific talk and not enough street talk. People don’t understand that. They don’t understand sustainability. They don’t understand carbon footprint and climate change. I believe that this could be the issue that creates jobs for us, if we could just change the vocabulary. On the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombings:
Boston matured that day. We really showed our best. After we made the arrest, our people were standing in streetcars singing “God Bless America” and raising American flags, and the Boston Common was filled with people. I got one call from the police department that said, “All the students are making all kinds of noise at Fenway about this thing. What are we gonna do?” I told them, “They’ve been stuck in dorms for 12 hours–leave them alone. They’re not causing trouble. They’re just celebrating.”
Microsoft announced Monday that Bill Gates’ hand-picked replacement, Ray Ozzie — a technology legend in his own right — is leaving Microsoft little more than four years since he took over the job of “chief software architect.”
Ozzie is not leaving immediately. He will not only stay long enough to transition his responsibilities and projects to others, but will also work on the company’s entertainment businesses before his departure, according to an e-mail that Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) CEO Steve Ballmersent to all employees Monday.
“Following the natural transition time with his teams but before he retires from Microsoft, Ray will be focusing his efforts in the broader area of entertainment where Microsoft has many ongoing investments,” Ballmer said.
Ozziewas the originator of Lotus Notes in the early 1980s, which he later sold to IBM. He was a staunch competitor of Microsoft for many years. However, he ended up joining Microsoft more than five years ago when Gates and company bought out his latest startup, Groove, as much for the personnel as for the technology.
Not long after his arrival, Ozzie penned a treatise entitled the Internet Services Disruptionmemo. In it, he predicted that Microsoft had to jump on the cloud computing model or risk the company’s future.
“Ray’s Internet Services Disruption memo nearly five years ago, and his work since, stimulated thinking across the company and helped catalyze our drive to the cloud,” Ballmer acknowledged in his e-mail.
It is true that, at least visibly, the largest accomplishment that Ozzie achieved in his tenure at Microsoft was to get the company firmly on a track to move to a cloud-based services model. The company, this year, in fact, said it has already signed up some 40 million paying customers for its various cloud services.
Additionally, Microsoft has been enabling many of its enterprise products to run either on customer sites or hosted in its own cloud, for which it has built gigantic data centers around the world to support.
Since Gates retired from full-time participation in the company in July 2008 — though he remains chairman of the board — Ozzie has been responsible for short and mid-term technology and product strategy at Microsoft.
However, Ozzie was never one who basked in the limelight as Gates did and it has been difficult to say how much impact Ozzie has had inside the company since he speaks publicly so infrequently. It’s also hard to say whether that reticence hurt his efforts inside and outside the company, analysts said.
It’s also hard to tell whether there were clashes between Ozzie and Ballmer, who’s known as a very outspoken and aggressive manager. It likely somehow played into the final equation, though, Miller said.
“It’s an inevitable point that has to come up [because] there’s an obvious potential for a collision … it’s hard to say, but it ended mutually,” Miller added.
Mutual or not, Miller as well as another leading analyst both lamented word of Ozzie’s planned departure.
“He [Ozzie] was guiding enterprise and business strategy, and I’m convinced he gave input on smartphones [Windows Phone 7] and tablet PCs,” Bajarin added.
Still, he also thought that Ozzie’s departure was just a matter of time.
“It is clear that Ballmer is back in control of all things Microsoft,” Bajarin said.

Microsoft’s Wireless Display Adapter is based on Wi-Fi certified Miraacast technology which allows you to stream content from any device to TV or Monitor. If you do not have a smart TV or Chromecast enabled device, then the display adapter can be a great choice. In this post, we will share how to use Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter. It will include setting up the adapter, connect your device with it, and prevent others from connecting to it.Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter
Setting up Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter is easy, but make sure to secure your display adapter from invited guests. We have added a few FAQs at the end that will help you decide to go for Microsoft’s solution or an alternate one.1] Connect Adapter to a TV
The first step is to make sure the display adapter is correctly powered. If your TV doesn’t have a USB port that can support the correct voltage (5V) to the adapter, then you will have to connect to an external power source for the same.
Plug the HDMI end of the adapter to the HDMI port of the TV. Repeat the same with the USB port or external adapter if it’s powerful enough.
Switch the input source of the TV to the HDMI port on which the adapter is connected.2] Download & install Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter app
Microsoft offers an app for the Wireless Display Adapter through the Microsoft Store.
It allows you to configure these for the device:
Adapter Settings: Setup name, adjust display, and language. Make sure to set up a unique name after the correction is made. If there is more than one adapter in your vicinity, it will help you identify yours. You will have to disconnect and reconnect the adapter to see the changes reflected on other devices.
Security Settings: Setup PIN to restrict unknown sources to connect to the device. It will make sure to prevent others from connecting to your adapter
Firmware: Update firmware settings for the device when available. It will improve the overall performance of the device.3] Connect Windows 10 device to the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter
The wireless display is like a second monitor except that there is no wire. So you need to follow the same steps you follow to manage dual monitor.
Use Win+P to open Windows Project.
It will display options to configure with a second monitor, and in the end, there is a link that says “Connect Wireless Display.”
Enter the Pin, and if it’s correct, you will be able to connect and stream. What can you do with Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter?
If you have ever used casting, this is similar to that. Here is the list of things you can do with it.
You can either use it as a replacement to a projector or as a second screen. No wires, though.
Anyone can stream videos to the TV.
When using a second monitor, you can move apps on it, give a presentation, and more.
Not only Windows but if you have any device which can cast, it will work with that.Difference between Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter & Chromecast?
Chromecast is built for streaming, while Microsft’s solution allows you to duplicate your computer screen. The next major difference is that Chromecast needs the internet to start streaming while the Display Adapter uses Direct Wi-Fi and works without the internet. It is best suited for a group that does not want to depend on internet stability to get started.
If you are wondering which one is better for you, then consider offline and online as your criteria since there is a price difference between them. If you want the casting to work anytime you want, choose Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter, else Chromecast should work fine.
I hope the post was easy to understand, and you were able to use the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter and use it with your computer.
It was no surprise to hear Brian Snow, the senior technical director of the National Security Agency’s Information Systems Security Organization, tell an audience of security tool developers that a lot of the products they make are an “attractive nuisance.”
Propelling this mushrooming growth in security protection development is new ICT earning potentials. Market researcher International Data Corporation (IDC) projects the security market for managed security services to grow to $2.24 billion by 2003 from $512 million in 1998. IDC also expects the market for content security to grow from $66 million in 1999 to $952 million by 2004. Another market research firm, Frost & Sullivan, values the 1999 European Internet security marketplace at $489.9 million, and predicts it will reach $2.74 billion by 2006.ASP then, MSP now
ASPs provide the applications and IT infrastructures to service subscribers. Potential corporate benefits include substantial reduction in security software costs, decreases in resources required to continually update security capabilities and knowledge, and lower staffing growth for security-related duties. ASPs can also accomplish the challenge of incorporating proprietary security applications into an integrated security shield.
But as the Internet evolves, complexity and specialization continue to complicate straightforward ASP security solutions. Some ASPs are full-service firms, while others partner with organizations that contribute missing components and capabilities, such as encryption and public key infrastructure (PKI).
In response, a new form of ASP is budding in the ICT protection arena: managed services providers (MSPs). Rather than offering traditional application access, security MSPs supply both security technologies and the management of it all to assure optimal protection 24×7.
These MSP providers are so new to the online security market that security services should be outsourced incrementally, service-by-service. MSPs can be evaluated more easily in a step-by-step relationship, and control and protection pressures can be more adequately managed internally. The “all-or-nothing” approach sounds easy but too often ends in disaster.
Can security MSPs become bulwarks of protection to the nonsecurity ASP services sector and to corporations seeking reprieve from ICT assault? To help you make the first MSP cut, ask yourself the following questions:
What are the dividing lines between your security responsibilities and those of the security MSP?
How can you validate the MSP’s security services (e.g., online reports including incident, incident response, and downtime)?
Does billing reflect security protection performance instead of services time periods?
What staff savings can security outsourcing accomplish?
How does the MSP manage data backup and disaster recovery?
Four major issues are central to developing effective relationships with security MSPs:
Capability–Your company must be able to efficiently outsource certain security functions and closely oversee MSP security services on an ongoing basis.
Competence–The MSP must have the skills to maintain information assurance, infrastructure protection, and telecommunication oversight.
Trust–Trust is a must for the security MSP to gain and maintain clients. Longevity, integrity, growth, capitalization, reputation and internal security all build the foundation for adequate credentials.
Responsiveness–Considering that corporate survival is at the core of these services, MSP staff responsiveness, in addition to technology excellence, is mandatory.Who’s out there? The early MSP entrants
Front-runners in the new security MSP space are touting their services. Unfortunately, services at this stage aren’t comparable and offer overlapping or narrowly targeted options. Here’s a brief overview of some of today’s participants:
One of the new MSPs offering partial through end-to-end security services is chúng tôi chúng tôi presents a flexible mix of human value-added services (e.g., centralized management and monitoring) with online, real-time security technology to match small to mid-sized corporate needs. A subsidiary of Network Associates Inc. since January 2000, this startup has access to the expertise and research development inherent in this lineage. Once its service models gain experience and fine-tuning, chúng tôi could scale to high volume integrated security services for large organizations. While capability requirements may be less an issue since chúng tôi can assist with security infrastructure evaluation via technology and services consultation, competence and trust are primarily via the parent relationships. Time will tell if this fledgling can fly using its own wings.
In this new MSP industry where revenue flows if security services produce protection and client savings, it’s clear we’re seeing budding business models in what previously has been a technology-intensive field. And, quite frankly, focused market strategy implemented with solid service delivery is what’s mandatory in this market.
I’ll be following this trend. Be sure to check back for more details and MSP developments.
